What is Kamiticism/Kemeticism and the Various Kamitic Paths?

In past articles I have talked about the uniqueness of Kemetic/Kamitic spirituality. I have indicated in previous post that Kemetic/Kamitic spirituality means something different to many people because the Kemetic/Kamitic philosophers and sages didn’t leave any detailed instructions on how to practice their spiritual tradition, thus resulting in it being interpreted in a number of ways.  Consequently, there are several Kemetic/Kamtic paths that can be practice as it was in the days of Ancient Egypt (Kamitic/Kemetic), but as one reader reminded me.  What I failed to explain is what these paths are and how they differ from each other, which I will do in this post.

First, in order to understand these paths, we must first understand that Kamitic spirituality is different from Westerns spiritual traditions because the latter is based upon the concept of good versus evil. From the Western perspective, everything that is considered to be good is associated with godliness, whereas everything else is considered ungodly or evil.  Thus we have good versus evil, white versus black, male versus female, spiritual versus secular and vice versa. So we have it that if a philosophy, music, poem, lifestyle, career, etc. does not in any way talk about God or is not somehow relate to it. It is not considered to be good, godly or spiritual, and therefore it is deemed according to Western thought to be secular, ungodly and hence evil.  When an individual in the west has unpleasant experiences, it is commonly seen as being the work of evil forces.  To remove this evil one simply has to do good works.  Doing good works regardless if one is teaching, speaking, making money, etc. is seen as doing godly acts, regardless if the individual is religious or not because from the Western perspective one has to be saved from evil.  Anything that is considered good in nature, is seen as being godly and classified as being a part of a ministry, a part of the white practice, a light path, etc.  The same holds true for non-Western traditions that have been adapted and modified to address Western needs as well.

Kamitic spirituality differs from the start because it does not necessarily believe in good versus evil per se. Good and evil from the Kamitic perspective are seen as subjective manmade concepts used to measure. Meaning what one person sees as being good may be bad for another. This can best be seen in the proverbial question, “Who do you think God favors in the web, the spider or the fly?”

This is because from the Kamitic perspective good and evil are seen as polar opposites of each other.  In other words, both are needed because one cannot exist without the other like right and left, light and dark, hot and cold, fire and water, etc. This is because evil from the Kamitic perspective is seen as anything that is extreme, while good is more like anything that is perfect.  This state of perfection is called Maa. In short, Western traditions can be said to be based upon opposition and conflict between good and evil, God and the devil, etc. But the Kamitic traditions are based upon affinity, harmony, understanding the interconnectedness between these forces, thus requiring one to be patient and still.

Maa is commonly translated to mean, order, law, justice, righteousness, karma, etc. but it refers to Absolute Truth, which extends beyond rational thinking and experimentation and is obtained by trusting your intuition.  To understand Maa we must recognize that everything in nature such as our ecological system, the seasons, etc. is all composed of dualities. With night comes day. With hot comes cold and so on. One cannot exist without the other because everything is cyclical and interdependent upon the other.  For instance, the sun does not shine in the same place all the time because it would be extremely hot and plant life would not be able to grow and sustain life. Hot days are therefore balanced with cool days and vice versa, which is Maa.

The vagueness about Maa exists because Maa exist throughout nature, between people and even within oneself, which is why Maa translates to mean order, law, justice, righteousness, karma, truth, etc.  Coincidentally, we all are given a chance to practice Maa on a daily basis, but most of the time we are not aware of it.  For instance, whenever we are in a heated argument with a loved one or close friend. When we sense that the other party is becoming agitated, it is quite normal to continue to argue and run the risk of jeopardizing our relationship.  But, instead of continuing with the argument, if we were to agree to disagree or do something else to quell the argument from preceding any further, even if it means apologizing or staying silent and refusing to rebuttal.  We would notice that it would neutralize the heat generated in the argument, thus creating a balance situation. When we cease to follow the normal path during an argument and take what some would refer to, as the higher road.  We have just created a balanced or Maa situation, because we were still, which restored harmony.

As you can see, from the Kamitic perspective, evil is anything that is done to the extreme, while good is balance or Maa. Therefore, when ill befalls one under the Kamitic belief such as an illness, loss of fortune, etc. Instead of seeing it as punishment from God, a curse, etc., it is interpreted from the Kamitic perspective as an imbalance. An illness for instance could be due to excessive amounts of stress, worries over money, too much fatty foods, etc. The loss of a job could be due to excessive idleness from an employee or employer, and so on.  Never is any kind of ill credited to an outside force, as is the case in Western thinking. Blame is always placed on the individual(s), so that they can take responsibility for their actions and therefore make amends to restore Maa. In a nutshell, whenever anything occurs on the natural or human plane to the extreme, the remedy is to do the complete opposite, which will restore balance or Maa because everything is cyclical.

The Maa concept is the basis of the Kamitic legend of Osar (Ausar, Asar or Osiris in Greek) and those involved in the Kamitic tradition can be classified as being either on a religious, mystical and/or shamanic path, and each explains and practices Maa differently.

Oset and Hru

For instance, those on the Kamitic religious path choose to see Osiris somewhat as a savior similar to Jesus Christ, focusing on the part of the legend that after Set was defeated by Horus (Heru, Hru).  He resurrected his father Osar (Ausar, Asar, Osiris), hence his goodness, mercy, prosperity, etc. returned to the world.  It should be noted that this path incorporates a lot of syncretism and mysticism in it because most of the Christian stories regarding the birth and death of Jesus were borrowed directly from the Kamitic tradition. For example, the announcement of the birth of Jesus to the Virgin Mary can be seen as Thoth’s (Tehuti, Djahuti) informing Isis (Auset, Aset, Oset) on how to conceive a child. The Immaculate Conception is Isis’ Virgin birth. The Star of Bethlehem can be seen as Osar. King Herod obviously is Set the jealous brother trying to kill Osar’s rightful heir. The infant Jesus of course is Hru, and the Holy Family (Joseph, the Virgin Mary and the Infant Jesus) fleeing into Egypt is Npu (Anpu, Anubis), Oset and the Infant Hru fleeing from Set. The syncretism in this path is so strong that nativity scenes are sometimes purchased and the icons to reflect Npu, Oset and Hru.

The Kamitic mystics like most mystics focus upon spiritual enlightenment and they practice Maa by focusing on becoming more like Osar (Ausar, Asar) seeing Osar as being the perfect role model of Maa, as indicated by his balanced crook and flail. This path usually consists of a lot of metaphysics and other esoteric sciences. For instance, most individuals following this path are familiar with all of the sciences regarding the winter solstice, which was a major celebration in ancient times as it related to the dog-star Sirius.

The Kamitic shamans, which is the path I have succumb to after spending a number of years in the previous paths, focuses upon practicing Maa by harmonizing with oneself, others and nature.  It is basically a healing path that focuses upon establishing and maintaining Maa in one’s health, relationships, career, finances, etc.  In the shamanic path, particularly Kamta – an Afro-American shamanic tradition, Osar and Set are both seen as being polar opposites of one another.  Consequently, Osar (Ausar, Asar, Osiris) is seen as being an example of an individual that was too spiritual, seeing the spiritual realm as being superior over the physical (ultimately resulting in his death); while his youngest brother Set is seen as being an example of an individual that is too materialistic and engrossed in the physical world (resulting in the destruction of planet). The heir of Osar, Hru (Heru, Horus) standing on the edge of both lands (the spiritual and material world), is seen as being an example of what it means to live according to Maa as indicated by his dual red and white crown.

In the shamanic path, since most of the work regarding Maa occurs within the mind, those on this path are free to adopt, adapt, borrow, modify and change anything according to their desire, because they are focused more on healing (spiritually, mentally, physically, etc.), which means obtaining physical results.  Maa from the shamanic perspective is not concerned with beliefs, dogma and theory, but what works. For instance, those on the shamanic path may easily set up a nativity scene but deliberately not place the infant in the manger, to express the idea that they are awaiting the arrival of their divinity. At the same time, they may take the infant Jesus icon and tie petitions on it for money, better relationships, better career, improved health, etc., because they recognize the symbolic truth and how it relates to Osar, Oset and Hru.  A Kamitic shaman may also use the 23rd Psalms, seeing the “Lord” in the scripture as a reference to Osar. The options are limitless, because the boundaries are determined by the individual’s thinking.  As you can see, a Kamitic shaman, is more like adventurist that explores the various avenues of both realities (spiritual and physical realms) in order to establish and maintain Maa by simply focusing on what works in order to help humanity.

In each of these paths, Maa is the basis and if you are interested in learning more about Maa, I would highly recommend that you first learn how to meditate because it is fastest way to discovering the Maa within yourself, but, be prepared for a serious paradigm shift. As I mentioned earlier, Kamitic spirituality is nothing like Western spiritual traditions, because there is no savior or someone to cast blame upon. Maa is about Absolute Truth and as the saying goes, sometimes “the truth hurts,” but rest assure, “the Truth will set you free” from all of the illusion preventing you from reaching your full potential by coaxing you to take responsibility for your actions and behaviors.

Happy Birthday: Another Initiation Passed

This week I am another day older thanks to Kamitic/Kemetic spirituality. Sometimes I wondered how I was going to make it, but it was truly this Kamitic/Kemetic Way of Life that saved me.  I remember when I was 15 looking at the depressing news and hearing the most discouraging words of power from the media during the crack cocaine 1980s, “Young black males won’t make it to 18”, then it went to “21”, “25”. Well, I am 30 something! I made it and now I am trying to help others to get out of  that destructive cycle.

I never understood what this cycle was until I went through my experience and my ancestors taught me about the maa aankh, a Kamitic/Kemetic cosmogram inspired by the Kongo Cross.  You see according to the maa aankh.  The destructive cycle that a lot of young people (especially young men) fall into is called Ra, which is associated with the point Tu-Kula in Ki-Kongo. Both of these points are red and they correspond to the midday sun.  Red is the color of caution, danger, vitality and emergency and on the maa aankh it is associated with the  envious brother of Osar (Asar, Ausar, Osiris) named Set. Set for those who don’t know is the author of confusion, war, chaos, destruction, you name it, if it is evil he has his hands on it. His original name is Set and later he became known as Set-an and finally Satan.  His color by the way is also red.

Ra leads to Ra Atum, which is the point of completion, the end, death and transformation.  Ra Atum is associated with the Luvemba point which is the color white. White is the color of our elders’ gray hair, it is the color of the ancestors, and the cool color of the Lord Osar.

In the natural sense it is okay if you have mastered what is necessary in a particular cycle for you to change, be transformed or die, because it only means that you will be reborn from your experience (hence, the return of old souls being reborn as babies).  But, when you die at an early age and haven’t learned anything or what you were supposed to learn.  We die prematurely both spiritually and physically. Looking back at how I made it and survived the 1980s, I see that I had to learn how to temper the fire (anger, attitude, rashness, rebelliousness, etc.) and have a cool head. I had to learn how to balance the heat with coolness.   I had to listen to my elders who were much wiser and had more experience than I, so that I could avoid dying prematurely. It was by doing that, I was able to escape those turbulent times, pass the initiation (test) created by life and now metaphorically speaking wear the double pschent crown, like Hru (Hrw, Heru, Horus).

How I Got Over: Big THANKS to Kamit/Kemet

As I sit back and look at the all the calamity in the world broadcasted by the news media, that paints a picture of serious doom and gloom. My soul does wonder how I got over. It comes to me that the ancestors knowledgeable of Kamit/Kemet helped me a lot but why? My ancestors remind me that when I was growing up during the crack cocaine 1980s, that it was hard to find things that were positive and uplifting.It was the rap of Jungle Brothers, A Tribe Called Quest, Poor Righteous Teachers, Gangstarr, DeLa Soul, Black Sheep, Public Enemy, KRS-1 & BDP, Rakim & Erik B, Brand Nubians and many others that got the word out about Afrocentrism, and inspired me to read about Martin L. King and Malcolm X (El Hajj Malik Shabazz), Steve Biko, Nelson Mandela, Miriam Mekeba and countless other activists.  It was the voices of the ancestors speaking through the youth that helped make a way when all else seemed nearly impossible to begin my journey on the Kamitic/Kemetic path.

You see Kamit/Kemet is the source of inspiration for a lot of people. One look at the pyramids, sphinx and other ancient edifices can easily lead the onlooker to fantasizing and drifting to a far away ancient time. But, when you are akin biologically and/or culturally to the Kamitic/Kemetic people and their way of life. It takes on a whole new meaning. Kamit/Kemet becomes more than a source of inspiration but a guiding model, which is why it is not necessary for those who are biologically and culturally akin to the Kamitic/Kemetic people to reconstruct and recreate what was done thousands of years ago. All we need to do is tap back into our cultural way of living.

King Mena (Menes/Narmer) is our eldest and most honorable ancestor because according to historical records, he was the first king to unify Upper and Lower Kamit.  Yet, when discussed on most forums his contributions are often ignored and people simply continue on their way talking about Kamitic culture, Kamitic spirituality, Kamitic science. But, how can you talk about all of these subjects without first beginning with King Mena is beyond me. So, let’s start at the beginning.

What’s not known about Kamit by most is that Lower Kamit according to the Kamitic people was called Ta Sett (The Red Lands).  This was because it for the most part was a barren area with difficult and infertile terrain. For this reason the Kamau marked this territory with the red deshret crown.
Upper Kamit on the other hand was a complete opposite of Ta Sett. Unlike TaSett, the terrain of Kam Ta was fertile due to the inundation of the Nile River which flowed northward. The rich soil attracted all sorts of wild game, thus making life considerably easier in ancient times. For this reason the ancient settlers along the Nile River called this area Kam Ta (The Black Lands, hence the Land of Kam) for one because of the dark rich soil. Interestingly, though the Kamau marked this territory with a white crown instead of a black crown.

Why a white crown you ask? The reason corresponds to ancient African symbolism. Archeologists and those concerned with reconstruction have glossed over this observable fact because it connects Kamit biologically and culturally with the rest of Sub-Saharan Africa. The reason is because Upper Kamit,  Kam Ta – The Land of Kam also referred to the southern region of country.  The Kamau, masters of pun, marked this area with a white crown in reference to their ancestral beginnings because the color white recognized throughout Africa is the color of the honorable dead or ancestors.

When we take this all into consideration, we see that Osar (Asar, Ausar, Osiris) according to legend is the first to unite Kamit. He is the first to give the people laws. He is the first honored dead and the first resurrected savior. Above we see that King Mena is wearing the white hedjet crown and various depictions indicate that he apparently is the first Osar. This means that Osar is not a god, but a deified ancestral spirit. Further understanding of ancient African color symbolism reveals that this ancestral spirit is devoted to unifying and bringing people together in the most peaceful means possible according to spiritual laws and principles.  This ancestral spirit that the Kamau called Osar is stable, strong and dependeable which is another reason why the hidden in the name of the white hedjet crown is the Kamitic word djet, which is known as the pillar and backbone of Osar (again another reverence to ancestors).  When an individual learns from their mistakes, obtains sudden flashes of insight or wisdom, it is believed to come from the hidden realm of the ancestors. This is why King Mena is so important and relevant.

Of course, when the Kamitic people converted to Christianity and created the Coptic church they had to change things around, so instead of venerating King Mena or Osar openly. They changed the name to Jesus.  Jesus took on all of the qualities of Osar because he like King Mena strove to accomplish the same thing in the Middle East. Unfortunately, the reason most people can’t shake the Euro-centric image of Jesus out of their Spirit even though they know that Jesus technically speaking was a man of color.  Is because for so long we have been told to worship this figure from the Euro-centric perspective.  When it is understood that Jesus is simply an ancestral spirit/archetype and like any other ancestral spirit you are supposed to honor and venerate, but not worship.  Meaning, you live your life striving to be Christ-like, Osar-like or in the hopes of becoming an honorable ancestor like King Mena.  That’s when when the real power of God – the Rau – kicks in and begins to make miracles in your life.

The Real Kamitic/Kemetic People were Like You and Me

This is a song that I remember hearing sung at my church as a child called Something Got a Hold of Me.  Usually only the chorus part was sung and it was sung in traditional call-and-response fashion.  It is what came to mind when I look at some of these sites of people claiming that the Kamitic people were all of that. I mean don’t get me wrong, the Kamau accomplished a lot and made a lot of contributions, but some people influenced by the media, archeology and sheer fantasy have just mystified the Kamitic/Kemetic people and tradition to no end.  This is why, it amazes me how people talk about how the Kamitic/Kemetic people did this and that, and make it seem like these people were just extraordinary people just walking around on Cloud 9.  I have even come across some authors that have went so far as to state that the Kamitic/Kemetic people didn’t even need food to eat and could survive on just breathing air.  This is not only misleading but it is ridiculously dangerous especially for the newcomer. I wondered how could people write this stuff and why would people even follow someone that would say something like this.  Then, I was reminded by my own aakhu (ancestors) that I use to fall for the OKE-DOKE as well because, this is what happens when you don’t have a relationship with Nebertcher – The Lord of Everything – through your ancestors (aakhu) and guardian spirits (netcharu). Basically, you fall for anything all because it sounds good.

When you have a relationship with the Divine through your aakhu and netcharu. The aakhu will visit you in your dreams, visions, etc. and tell you through signs, “This is crap, don’t follow”. Then the netcharu will come down (or up) through various people even complete strangers and protect you from others as well.

A true analysis of the Kamitic/Kemetic history and their way of life will reveal that the Kamitic/Kemetic people were able to accomplish what they did because for one (1) the Nile provided them with an endless source of resources. With no worry on where the next meal is going to come they were able to focus on other things. Second (2), they were practically isolated from the rest of the world for a number of years, which allowed them to ponder on different things. Last, but not least (3) they had to depend upon themselves and each other. All of this resulted in them creating their philosophical ways of life that was based upon practicality, which is at the center of all traditional African practices and sciences, “Does it work”.

This romanticized, Kamitic/Kemetic view of spirituality that has people thinking that all they have to do is adopt a vegetarian lifestyle, meditate, wear some Egyptian looking clothing, Egyptian jewelry and even take on an Egyptian name is not African and it is not African spirituality. Every true practitioner of Afrikan spirituality knows that Ancient African spirituality is holistic and true holisitic philosophy or holism means there has to be Maa (balance, order, law, etc.) between both the spiritual and physical realms.  In other words, it is a life change or a Way of Life because a change has occurred within.  That something that creates the change is what Christians call the Holy Ghost and what the Kamitic people called Ra or Rau.

Who or What are the Ancient Egyptian Gods?

Who or what are the netcharu? Well, let me first tell you that the first time I wrote about the neteru, netjeru or netcharu, it was based mostly upon scholarly research and theory. I had a little brush or experience with these divinities but no real relationship with them. I was just very zealous and like most, I was just happy and wanted to get the information out there about the Kamitic tradition.

Ok, for those of you that haven’t heard, I underwent a serious change in the past few years. I was gravely ill and almost died on two occasions (three is the charm number signifying that you better make some changes or else). I basically survived because I had to for a lack of a better term, “Sho’ N Prove” by putting what I had learned into action.  I had no get serious and find out quickly what worked for me.   I had to get down with some real juju, real fast and with no one in the so-called “spiritual” mindset to help me. I really had to do some things.  Meditation wasn’t getting it…no fluffy bunny stuff for me.  I had to get seriously FUNKY! It was through this experience I made a very interesting discovery.

The one thing that I learned was that the roots of the Kamitic tradition is essentially ancient African shamanism. This was interesting for two reasons: The first reason is because it dispels the myth that the Kamitic people had a pan-religion, meaning they believed in the same thing, worshiped the same way, etc. as often depicted and described by most authors, books, movies, etc.  In other words, everyone did not belong to the same priesthood or tradition because there were various traditions that existed and many of these traditions differed per geographical region.The one thing that the Kamitic people did have in common is that they universally believed in the existence of one God, whom they referred to as Nebertcher – “The Lord of Everything”.

The second thing that made understanding that the roots of the Kamitic religion is essentially African shamanism interesting was that like most African religions and traditions, the belief in ancestors was very strong. This meant that there was a unique relationship that the living had with their dead. It should be noted that most of the grand edifices of Kamit are actually memorials dedicated to their ancestors.

Now, when I was laying up on the hospital gurney, it was my ancestors that helped me to change my perspective about the neteru, which I was informed to call netcharu (such as in nature).  The generic word for God is Neter or Netchur, which is why people commonly refer to natural events as Nature. The energies/spirits controlling those events the Kamau called the netcharu.

The netcharu I was informed were similar to the other divinities but they were basically deified ancestor spirits, similar to the Basimbi of the Kongo. I was shown this because like I said, I was literally on a death bed and when you are close to death you see things completely different and not from an intellectual perspective, because you’re not concerned with what’s right or wrong. You’re only concerned with “What WORKS” when you’re on a deathbed. And, I am not saying that anyone is right or wrong.  I am just telling you what I saw and what helped me to escape Death’s grasp.  So, I was informed that there are a number of netcharu that are similar to the Yoruba orishsa (but for me they weren’t the same) that exists but the main ones and their Christian/Roman Catholic(1) correspondences are:

First there is only One God. The common name for the Supreme Being is Nebertcher – “Lord of All”. Under Nebertcher there is:

  • Osar (Asar, Ausar, Osiris) the Lord of the Dead is the guardian spirit of peace, wisdom, purity, knowledge and fertility. Associated with the Resurrected Jesus and La Virgin de las Mercedes.
  • Oset (Aset, Ast, Auset, Isis) the Mother of Revolution is the guardian spirit of positive change and motherhood. Associated with the Virgin Mary, Virgin de la Regla and Virgen of the Miraculous Medals.
  • Hru (Hra, Heru, Horus) the Heir of Osar is the guardian spirit of victory, success and triumph. Associated with Samson, King David and St. Barbara.
  • Djahuti (Tahuti, Tehuti, Thoth) the Lord of Change is the guardian spirit of divination. Associated with King Solomon and St. Francis of Assisi.
  • Nebhet (Nephtys) Lady of the House is the guardian spirit love, beauty, pleasure, money and peace. Associated with Mary Magdalene and La Virgin de la Caridad del Cobre.
  • Sokar (Sokher, Seker) Lord of the Cemetery is the guardian spirit of resurrection, renewal and illness. Associated with Lazarus.
  • Npu (Anpu, Enpu, Anubis) the Messenger/Traveler between the Living and Dead, is the guardian spirit of guidance. The master of the cross-road.  Associated with the Moses and El Nino de la Atocha.
  • Maat the Gatekeeper of Life/Death is the guardian spirit of balance, righteousness and sanity. Associated with Joshua and St. Norbert.
  • Hruaakhuti (Ra-Hor-kahuti, Bedhuty, Herukhuti) Lord of the Double Horizon, is the guardian spirit of justice. Associated with the disciple Peter and St. George the Destroyer of Dragons.

The Kamitic devil (sort of speak) is called Set.  Set is the spirit of War, chaos, destruction, confusion, imbalance. You name it. He has his hand in it, which is why he later became Set-an and Satan in the Christian tradition.  It is too bad that the early Christians didn’t completely understand the Kamitic tradition and just changed the names while copying it word for word. If they had, they would have caught that Set, the red one who is King of the North, is the spirit of sensory overload, excess, chaos, destruction, etc. So, when it comes time for Christmas (Winter Solstice Dec. 21-25) they would be cautious of the jolly Red Man (spirit) in disguise that makes this season for many – the worst time of the year, due to burglary, depression, homicide and suicide.

The netcharu I was shown are the eldest and earliest of our benevolent ancestors. They are very high up, so high that they are considered the founders of clans and tribes. Like true essences, it is impossible to truly possess them because it is like possessing the sun in the palm of one’s hand. The closest that we can come to possessing them, is possessing an ancestor that worked with this spirit.  And, when I say worked with this spirit, I mean possessing an ancestor that has encountered or dealt with this spirit because they were a priest, priestess or some how a devotee of that particular energy/spirit. In our ancestors’ times, a priest, priestess or devotee of a particular spirit, was one that had to learn how to work with a energy/spirit in order to overcome a trial, tribulation, etc. The energy/spirit taught them in their dreams, visions, hunches, etc. how to achieve certain goals provided they do certain things for the spirit. This same relationship exists in the Black Church today even though it is masked with rituals like sacrament, baptism and offering.

There were a lot of things that I was shown as I lay on the gurney listening to the numerous patients cry out to Death to take them from their misery.  One of the things that I learned was that, it is said that when we physically die, our ancestors (usually a familiar one) comes to us after our soul leaves the body and assists us on the other side. This I believe to be true because I was visited by a group of spirits. It was through this experience that made me conclude that the Kamau (Ancient Africans of Egypt) used animal parts and so forth to illustrate the functions and responsibilities of these numerous spirits or entities that exist around us all.   What this means is that we all have an Npu spirit – that is a spirit (or group of spirits) that guides us provide us with direction and so forth. We all have Djahuti, Hru and Hruaakhuti spirits and they are not just imaginary, archetypical beings. They were physically real, living people, with real feelings, beliefs, etc. and are real spirits with real power and guess what real taboos.  This is why they are still fond of the things of the earth or physical things. It should be noted that while we all have netcharu no two spirits are alike. Meaning, one individual’s Npu might favor pipe tobacco, while another prefers cigars.  Although, they may have different characteristics, they will both have the same purpose, which is to assist, guide and help one find their Way.

Who and what are the netcharu? They are guardian angels but not in the thinking that most people believe in the west. You see, most people in the west are under the influence that our guardian angels only appear to steer us away from harm. They completely miss the point in the Bible that when Adam and Eve were cast out of the Garden of Eden, a great guardian (the archangel Jophiel) with a fiery sword was put at the entrance. Most interpret this to mean that God placed the archangel at the entrance to keep man and woman from ever returning to the Garden of Eden.  God is not that cruel.  It is my belief that God placed the archangel there to protect the Tree of Life. In others words to prevent the unrighteous from using that was so sacred wrongfully.

This is what the netcharu do, sure they steer us away from harms way but their main objective/purpose is to protect and guard the sacredness of the Spirit. How do you know when you have offended one of them and have crossed over to the Red Zone ruled by Set? Oh, everything goes wrong, you feel burned, you have nothing but problems everywhere you turn, etc., etc., etc.  Everything is out of whack! There is imbalance everywhere it seems and no peace. How do you keep from offending the netcharu? You work with your ancestors, since the netcharu have been gone for such a long time and forget how physical life can be, who help teach you the taboos as it relates to the Spirit.

1. Many will question why I included the Christian and Roman Catholic syncretism.  The reason is because there are different spiritual technologies at work. Living in the West, many of us have become accustomed to “plug and play” spiritual work based upon our intellect. This eventually leads to becoming a culture vulture, an individual that adopts the cultural ways of others without having any true understanding of the content behind the form. Since most of us have had some dealings with Christianity and/or Roman Catholicism, our spirits will be familiar with these icons. It is through these icons they can help us to understand our ancient ancestral masks.

Hetepu (Peace to You All) Family, my name is Derric Moore and I along with several netizens around the USA created the Land of Kam website in 2001 because we were very interested in the  Kamitic (Kemetic, Khamitic or simply the Ancient Africans of Egypt) spiritual tradition but lived in very remote areas away from actual spiritual communities.  Several of us had dealings with several Kamitic spiritual study groups and had interacted with others in various Afro-Diaspora traditions, so we understood the importance of continuing our studies but found it extremely difficult to do so without any support.  We also understood the importance of our ancestors, or at least we thought we did from an intellectual perspective, so we all had an ancestral altar.  It was through my ancestors that I was given the name “Rau Khu” and this is how the Land of Kam was created.  It was created basically as a platform to encourage and inspire each other (and others) to continue reading and studying these Kamitic concepts and principles.

Then several years later, my body became deathly ill, so naturally I being the main contributor of the site had to take a hiatus, while focusing all of my attention to attaining, regaining and maintaining my health.  It was during this time, as I literally fought to survive, I had a chance to see Kamitic spirituality from a unique perspective because; I was functioning from a different state of consciousness sometimes referred to as the Death Awareness. Simply put, if you don’t know what the afterlife holds or have no proof that heaven or hell exists, how can you live your life on this material plane? When you get a true glimpse of what happens to the soul after we physically die or what happens after death, you have a better understanding and appreciation for life. That’s when you really come to understand that life is an adventure and that you have no time to deal with any drama or foolishness.

It was from this awareness as I literally applied the Kamitic concepts and principles to my life in order to overcome my illness and regain my health, that I made a very deep connection with my ancestors and guardian spirits.  That’s when I discovered that the core of Kamitic spirituality is an ancestral shamanistic tradition that focuses upon healing or maintaining Maa (balance, order, holism, etc.). This unique understanding made me realize what I had known all along that biologically and culturally speaking, the Kamitic people were black and brown skinned Africans.  This meant that despite what some try to claim, true Kamitic spirituality (like most African derived religions and traditions) is not a “book religion or practice”.  In other words, all of the books you have read about the Kamitic mental science, Kamitic religion, Kamitic tradition, Kamitic philosophy, Kamitic Way of Life, etc. aren’t going to teach you about true Kamitic Spirituality. The only way to learn true Kamitic Spirituality, which is essentially Ancient African Spirituality, is to live it by establishing a relationship with the Divine through your ancestors.  This is alluded to in the Legend of Osar (Asar, Ausar, Osiris), which is how Hru (Hrw, Heru, Horus) by working with his ancestor was able to defeat his uncle Set with the power of God or Ra/Rau. A lot of times people get all caught up in the science that they forget that most of the grand edifices of Kamit were built and dedicated to the honorable dead – ancestors (aakhu).

Knowing that the Kamitic initiation or mystery systems are really about being reborn with a new state of awareness, inspired me to make drastic changes to the Land of Kam.  Since, Kamitic Spirituality is essentially Ancient African Spirituality, it became more important than ever to make it known that while it is culturally important to know that the Kamitic people were black and brown skinned Africans. The Kamitic Way is basically an Ancestral Practice or Way – meaning it has nothing to do with the color of one’s skin per se but rather one’s African-derived and influenced culture.  In other words, if an individual(s) is not biologically and/or culturally akin to the Kamitic people, they would have to heavily rely upon the writings of archeologists and other Western trained scholars just to get, as some would call it, “one leg” or one side of the picture.  This is because they have no ancestral link (biologically or culturally), which would ultimately contribute to them having an identity crisis and inspire them to adopt various forms (customs, attire, etc.) without having a clear understanding of the concepts and principles.

Understanding this, the Land of Kam websites and blogs were created to encourage, empower and inspire people throughout the African Diaspora, to improve their life by investing in their ancient African ancestral legacy.  It is not as difficult as some make it seem. Yes, the mental sciences are deep but they are nothing when you truly begin to explore the mysteries of the Spirit because it all part of our ancient African legacy.   When you truly understand what Kamitic Spirituality is really about, it becomes clear why some have tried to make it so difficult for us to really understand, because it is not in the books but in the mind, heart and soul of every Kamitic descendant.
