Maat is not Karma or Karmic Debt

The first time I wrote this post, some people were a little taken back and wanted me to clarify what I meant by Maa and Maat, so here we go.  According to Kamitic philosophy, Maa is balance, order, justice, righteousness, etc.  and it was personified as a woman wearing a feather plume on her head, while carrying a scale. In one of the pans of the scale was a heart and the other was a feather. The personification of Maa was called Maat.

Now because most of the Kamitic writings have been lost, many Western philosophers while trying to understand the Maa drew upon Eastern philosophy and equated Maa with Karma. This type of syncretism occurs all of the time between cultures, but the problem that arose was that true understanding of Karma is not correct. The concept that most have about karma was created by the elite in India to oppress the masses, but that’s another story.

Anyway, as a result, when most people think about karma they interpret it two ways and in both, to the extreme. The first way to see karma is like Earl as karmic debt.  They will not do anything wrong because they don’t want to be punished in the next life. Funny thing is that most people who believe in karma don’t even believe in reincarnation. Anyway, as a result, they go to the extreme with it and will allow people to walk all over them for fear that if they defend themselves. They will incur the wrath of God.

The second way they interpret karma is the other way, as Divine Retribution. So, they will not act or move because they are waiting for some Cosmic Balance to set the record straight.  You know those people who are waiting for divine justice from genocide, divine justice from slavery, divine justice from anyone that has wrong them. This is actually a spill over from the Western philosophers who wrote, “Vengeance is mine, saith the Lord.”

None of these approaches are Maa.

Maa first off is not a set of codes, laws and rules commanding you what you should and should not do or else.  Maa is a concept and principle based upon understanding how to work the Spirit of God.  A lot of people got this wrong, myself included when I first set off on this road because I didn’t understand the Spirit. My misunderstanding of Maa was due to my belief in generational curses.

You see, I once believed that I had inherited some real bad traits from my paternal grandfather, because I was told so many times during my childhood how much I favored him. After my grandfather passed, I discovered some things that my father and grandfather had a very estranged relationship. My grandfather not knowing better was not very supportive of my father, so when my father had children. He had promised to do better than my grandfather, but he was not very supportive of me and my brothers. This is what convinced me that there was a generational curse on us and that it had to do with Maa.  I also have an aunt who got pregnant at an early age, who had several daughters that did the exact same thing. So I thought this was all due to Maa and reincarnation, but this was wrong, thankfully.

The Maa is based upon understanding the Spirit.  The Spirit of God is omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent. The keyword is omni-present, which means the Spirit focuses on the present, not the past and not the future. This is why in order to be successful in meditation and they tell you when to use affirmations, do it in the present-tense, not the future because it will never happen.

So, Maa is about doing what is right in order to successfully tap into the Power of God within and stay connected to it.  This means living your life by closely observing the cause and effects of your actions and behaviors in the present, so that you can create your future. Not living in the past or worried about what action you take how it will effect your future.

It was because of the Maa, I was able to look at the mistakes my grandfather and father made and decide that I was not going to take the same path they took. This is why I ended up on the Kamitic road because I wanted to make a difference.

Maa does not mean if you get smacked take it. Ummm, unless you have an ulterior motive like Dr. King, maa says defend and protect yourself and love ones from harm.  If an injustice is being committed, maa says speak against it, shame Set (the Kamitic devil) and uplift the Kingdom of Osar. Maa says live in the present and allow the understanding of cause and effect to guide your actions and decisions, because when you do so. That’s when all forms of evolution takes place.

Maa means balance because it is the only road that brings balance. This is why on the maa aankh, the maa stretches vertically from KAMTA (spiritual) and to TASETT (physical). It is symbolizes that when there is Maa both realms (the spiritual and physical) are in balance, there is order, conditions are right, etc.

Many of us are selling ourselves and those we care about short because we are not living Maa. We are full of ideas, have some wonderful talents but are not using them and allowing the Spirit to express itself through us because of fear what might happen. We have studied metaphysics and all sorts of sciences and our relationships are a disaster, finances not the best, children are living all helter skelter, etc. These are all signs of imbalance, which comes from seeing the limitations of the physical.


The time has come shake off your shackles because Maa brings freedom. Maa allows you to see the whole picture, both the limited physical and unlimited spiritual (see the maa aankh).  When there is imbalance it is usually because we are too physical and have not tapped into the higher aspects of the Spirit, hence KAMTA.

Let Maa make positive changes in your life today by learning how to listen to the Spirit. Maa is not about restricting you from moving or living your life.  Maa remember is about cause and effect, so if you put forth the effort to make a positive change today.  Guess what?  You will find an equal amount of spiritual assistance on the other side in KAMTA supporting your effort and shaping tomorrow.  Maa states that if you do what’s right now, you will be protected in the future. Make positive investments in your children now and in the future they will care for their elders. Give birth to revolutionary change now and the children of today will restore the way of the ancestors.

That’s BALANCE. That’s ORDER – That’s Maa. Maa is about positive action done today that yields positive results tomorrow and vice versa.

So, do the maa (right) -thing!

The Importance of the Ab (Spiritual Heart)

Do you know why it is important to strengthen and develop your ab (spiritual heart)? Many don’t know or understand the concept of free will and the soul because Westerners are afraid of death and see it as being the end. In Afrospiritual traditions, death is not the end.  Death is the start of something new, but in order to make this transformation we have to have a strong ab (spiritual heart).

It is the ab that makes the entire Kamitic theology clear, because our ab is tied to the whole Kamitic spiritual hierarchy and the concept of life after death.  This is a pretty interesting yet complex concept to understand because it doesn’t correlate to Western thinking exactly. Like I said, Western thinking in linear and sees death as being the end, whereas African (and non-Western) thought is circular and holistic.  So, below is how my aakhu (ancestral spirits) explained this concept to me through a shamanic meditation and divination session.  This is what seems to make the most sense to me so, I will try to make this as simple as possible for you all.

We are all spiritual beings that have been infused into a physical body. Our spirit is composed of nine parts (incorrectly called souls) and they are : the khab, khabit, ka, sahu, ab, ren, shekhem, khu and ba. These parts of our spirit are more like consciousness and they can be grouped into three divisions called the ba, sahu and ab.

The first division of the spirit that we are given is our ba (divine conscious), which is said to be the divine spark from God. Our ba provides us with khu (divine wisdom), shekhem (divine power) and ren (our divine name, hence destiny).  The purpose of the ba is to help us to spiritually survive.  The ba was symbolized as a human headed falcon to indicate that it like a trained bird of prey will return back to its original owner or God.  So we have it the ba is closely assoicated with our breath. When body expires its last breath, the ba will return back to God. Besides providing our being with life, the ba draws all of its inspiration from the spiritual realm of the universe.  When we sleep, it is the ba that provides us with our dreams by flying wherever it needs to go and communicating the message from the spirit world to the other parts of our being. The ba corresponds to the unconscious. All living beings have a ba. The ba does not reincarnate but is new so that every living being has a fresh start or new and unique experience.

When we are born, we are also given a second divisions called a sahu (physical-body conscious) that governs our khab (physical body), khabit (emotions/animal instincts), and ka (personality), because the purpose of the sahu is to help us to physically survive.  To accomplish this feat, our sahu, which is also contains our genetic memories, draws all of what we need to know from the external environment. Our sahu corresponds to the subconscious mind. All living beings have a sahu. The sahu (and its associated parts) reincarnates but only biologically by following one’s lineage in order to provide every  living being with the genetic memory to survive. This is how animals through evolution acquire a certain distinctive pattern. In human beings this is how we acquire the physical features, behaviors, etc. of our foreparents.

We are also given an ab (spiritual heart or human conscious), which corresponds to our conscious mind but when we are born, our ab is not strong. This is the reason we have to learn right from wrong, how to be courageous and ethical in the face of fear.  We have to strengthen it, which occurs over a course of time.  For most, we do not come into the understanding of our ab until we are teenagers.  It is then that we learn that our ab is responsible for providing us with free will.  It is through our ab we are able to make choices and decisions, but our choices and decisions are influenced by the maa (divine law).  As a result, our ab grows and becomes stronger based upon the consequences of our actions and behaviors. It is through the maa that we develop a conscience or strong ab.  Only man and woman has been given ab and this is what makes us unique amongst all of the other beings and connects us to God. It is this uniqueness that intimately connects our ab to our ba. It is because of the connection between the ab and the ba that we all feel like we have a higher calling. It is our ab that is the eternal part of our being and the surviving conscious that is reborn.

When an individual physically dies, the ba, which was given to us to help us to spiritually survive, returns to the spiritual aspect of the Universe from whence it came from. The sahu, which was given to us to help us to physically survive returns to the physical aspect of the Universe from whence it came from. The ab, which is the eternal part of our being is the division of the spirit that survives the physical death experience.



So after death, the newly deceased remains with their body until they are able to pass into the otherworld or KAMTA with a clear conscience or strong ab. (Please note that this entire experience has been fictionized as the Kamitic Weighing of the Heart).  If the living remembers the deceased as being a purely evil individual. It will cause their ab to be so heavy, that their guilt (depicted as the Aummit monster) would totally consume their ab and prevent them from ever returning to the land of the living – TASETT to wreak havoc upon humankind. Although this is rare, this usually is what happens to individuals who in life encouraged a lot of chaos and confusion like Hitler and other beast men and women.  Most of the time, Aummit will be sent to fetch these individuals, which is why usually these individuals (like Hitler) commit suicide.

If the living remembers the deceased as being a troublemaker that attracted trouble in life usually due to ignorance, misguidance, wrong choices and decisions, etc., which resulted in the deceased dying a violent death or through suicide. It will cause the deceased to have a heavy ab, thus preventing them from passing into other world because now they have grave concerns that are on their mind. Since the choices these individuals made in life caused them to be shunned. In death they are shunned (not spoken of), which makes them visit the places they frequented in life. It is at these places (their homes, bars, clubs, alleyways, etc.) they influence the living with their negative and destructive ways. These deceased are called aapepu (snakes or worms) because they were parasites when they were alive and the maa causes them to be parasites in death. We encounter these negative spirits or ghost whenever we are walking and all of sudden for no apparent reason get an eerie chill up our spine, or for no reason at all have sudden thoughts of anxiety, depression, etc. Other times we know that we may have encountered an aapepu whenever we have an eerie hot and cold sensation, which is proof that these spirits are stuck in TASETT since the desert can become both extremely hot and cold temperature-wise.

If the living remembers the deceased as being an ethical and honorable individual in life. Then the deceased is able to pass into KAMTA with a light ab (clear conscience) where they will become an aakhu (ancestral spirit and spirit guide).   God allows the aakhu to be honored and venerated like the Christian martyrs and saints because in life these individuals chose to live a righteous life even in the face of death. It is through their courageous acts of bravery that these individals were tranformed and became emissaries for the Divine. This explains how biological, cultural, historical and mythical individuals even after dying tragically became aakhu like the Preto Velhos (Old Slaves in Brazil), known as Uncle Joe and Auntie (or Papa Joe and Big Momma in the US), El Negro Jose and La Madama in Afro-Cuban spiritual traditions.  It is because their ab has been made strong and pure.  Since, the aakhu can only address issues that they were familiar with in life.  Many aakhu choose to return to the land of the living where they are born through their descendants to master more skills. Others choose to return to the land of the living to assist their descendants by acting as spirit guides and speaking to us through our visions and dreams.

If the deceased after returning to the land of the living and dying with a light heart, numerous times, passes to KAMTA multiple times. The aakhu amongst the aakhu becomes a netcharu (netjaru, neteru, guardian spirit or principle of nature) because they have transformed beyond the organic birth-life-death-rebirth cycle. The netcharu are the masters of all technology and the guardians of God’s mysteries. They are the ones an individual must appeal to in order to master a particular skill and talent from God. The netcharu speak to us through quick flashes of insight. When they make themselves known, it renders us speechless temporarily because it is hard to literally explain what had just occurred. When we encounter the netcharu it is because our awareness had slipped into KAMTA – the underworld – and upon realizing what had occurred returned to the land of the living.

The netcharu exist as a clan of unique spirits and I believe the first and older netcharu  are the original founders and leaders of people.  It is this connection that ties the netcharu to everyone regardless if one believes in them or not. The older the netcharu the more it was associated with a particular aspect of nature and the more permanent it has become. Fortunately, new netcharu are being created everyday and these younger netcharu are more easy accessible and act as representatives of their clans. For instance, the original Osar is associated with agriculture, morality and stability, which caused him to be connected to the ground and pillars, hence foundation. Osar manifests himself in the mountains, but his representatives or spiritual children can be found in white stones like limestone.  The legendary Mother of all mothers,  Oset (Aset, Auset, Isis) is associated with the life giving waters and is identified with the sea. She as the ocean is permanent, but her representatives or spiritual child (essence) can be found in certain seashells.

Because death is not the final resting place and the maa mirrors the spiritual and physical world. Lower spirits can advance to the next level, just like human beings. They just have to work hard to do it because this is part of the maa. It is because of the maa, spirits can be offered prayers, light, water, money, the recitation of the psalms, rituals like the novena, and so on, which can elevate the ab of the spirit.

This is why it is best to work on developing and strengthening your ab now, so that upon death. You will have a light ab and be well received by the ancestors that have preceded you.

The Origin of KAMTA: Kamitic/Kemetic Shamanism

Kamitic/Kemetic spirituality or way of life means a lot of things to a lot of people because Kamit/Kemet has and always will be a source of inspiration to generations and for generations to come. For some Kamitic/Kemeitc spirituality/way of life is an initiation system that focuses upon reconnecting to Nebertcher or God in order to expand one’s consciousness.  With the sole hope of declaring before their life came to an end that they are Osar (Asar, Ausar, Osiris).  For others Kamitic/Kemetic spirituality/way of life is about recreating, reconstructing and rebuilding the Kamitic/Kemetic society of old in order to restore Maa (balance, law, order, truth, etc.) to our hell bent society.  But for the Land of Kam, Kamitic/Kemetic spirituality/way of life is all about assisting the individual to improve their daily lives through the power of God. Unlike other Kamitic/Kemetic inspired traditions that begin with the conflict between Hru (Hrw, Heru, Horus) and Set in the Story of Osar (Asar, Ausar, Osiris). The basis of the Land of Kam spiritual practice also called KAMTA (the Black Lands) centers around the pragmatic knowledge of the Kamitic/Kemetic people and their Story of Ra and Oset.

The Kamitic/Kemetic Influences from Nature

Like most stories and traditions of indigenous people, the people of Kamit/Kemet’s beginnings is heavily influenced by how they migrated to the region, acquired food, whether by hunting animals or through agriculture, and developed into a peaceful society. According to the history of the Kamitic/Kemetic people, their country was divided into two regions due to the north flowing Nile River. The southern region of Kamit/Kemet was called the Upper Kamit or KAMTA (the Black Lands), which is where the name of this practice derives from. This region because the mouth of the Nile began in the south, had fertile dark soil, which made it possible for the Kamitic/Kemetic people to have lush crops, which naturally attracted lots of wild game that could be hunted.  It was because of this rich fertile soil, the Kamitic/Kemetic people were able to develop the science of agriculture, which laid the foundation for them to become prosperous. The Kamitic/Kemetic people didn’t know how or why the Nile flowed from the south to the north (it was a mystery) but by observing the stars and the planets, they were able to mark when the Nile would flood, this eventually is what led to the people creating the calendar.

The northern region of Kamit/Kemet that opened up to the Mediterranean was called Lower Kamit or TASETT (the Red Lands).  This was because this region for the most part was very arid and the terrain was difficult to work.  The lack of fertile soil made this what is imagined to be a very windy region that has the ability to dry one’s eyes, hence the origin of the Evil Eye. This coupled with the fact that nomadic warring tribes it appears fought constantly in this northern region for resources led to TASETT for the most part being seen as a harsh desert section of the country.

So you see it was from this astute observation of nature, the southern region known as KAMTA called Upper Kamit was equated with fertility, prosperity, abundance, peace, blessings, stability, strength, water, night sky (heavens), mystery, the south, etc. While TASETT was associated with infertility, impotence, poverty, limitation, war, chaos, violence, fire, weakness, physical land, the north, etc. It wouldn’t be long afterwards that these influences would eventually be grafted into legends, myths and stories used to validate cultural practices. As time moved on it became general knowledge amongst the Kamitic/Kemetic people of the dyadic relationship that existed between the two regions. It was simple; it was always KAMTA/TASETT, mystery/known, secret/unveiled, invisible/visible, spirit/physical, dead/living, dark/light and night/day.  The reader will note that this would appear to be a contradiction because you may have heard that Set was the devil and Hru was associated with the day.  A thorough analysis of the Kamitic/Kemetic legends will reveal that this was not the case originally.  Originally Set was good but eventually usurped by Hru who became associated with light and day and Set became associated with evil. Early Christians copied this word for word, which is why the devil in Christian lore was associated with being a good angel before being kicked out of heaven. Set still carries some of his old names as being the Lord of Light. Returning back to our subject, one of those stories that are often overlooked is the Story of Ra and Oset.

The Kamitic/Kemetic Story of Ra and Oset

The Story of Ra and Oset begins with Oset wanting Ra’s power so that she could become a divine being. She believed that if she could discover Ra’s real name, which he kept secret she could gain control over him and become as great as he.  Through magical means Oset created a serpent and laid it upon Ra’s path so that when he came across it, the serpent would strike him and make him ill. When the poison of the serpent caused Ra’s skin to boil with fever and his bones to shake. Ra states that he has a multitude of names and a multitude of forms”. As Ra grows weaker and Oset persists to ask him to give her his real name, Ra states all of the things that he has created and that he is Khepera in the morning, Ra at noon and Tmu (or Atum) in the evening. Finally, having no other choice, Ra secretly revealed his real name to Oset so that it would be hidden to others. He does so by transferring his name from his body to hers, thus revealing that Ra dwells within. Then the story ends with the impression that Ra’s real name had, not been revealed.

In order to fully understand the story one has to have an understanding of the Kamitic/Kemetic language and philosophy. When Ra states that he has a multitude of names and a multitude of forms, it indicates that Ra is not the God or the Supreme Being as Egyptologists have claimed, but an attribute, part or section of the God. When Ra states all of the things that he has created and responds that he is Khepera in the morning, Ra at noon and Tmu (or Atum) in the evening. He reveals that he is not the sun but that his name is associated with the moments of the sun.  In other words, his real name is what gives him purpose and declares what he is supposed to do. Finally having no choice and forced to give in to Oset wishes, when he reveals his real name to Oset he does so in secret by transferring his real name from his body to hers. We learn that the real name of Ra or the real Ra resides within. The real name of Ra is secret, hidden and is called Amun Ra, which means Hidden or Concealed Ra. The real Ra that Ra transfers from his body to the body of Oset derived from the Kamitic/Kemetic word “ra” meaning energy, power, strength, etc. It is the Kamitic equivalent of the Semitic “el” which means the same thing and is used the same way as prefix and suffix to various words. The real Ra that dwells within is the life force, the Holy Ghost, the Power or the Spirit of God that exists everywhere and in everything.

When all of this is taken into consideration, compared with other traditional African systems – particularly the Kongo Cross – and put together according to the moments of the sun: Khepera is marked by the rising sun (sunrise), Ra by midday sun (noon), Ra Atum by the evening sun (sunset) and Amun Ra by midnight. Together these four moments of Ra graphically create the cosmogram called the maa aankh.  To the trained eye or the one who was biologically or culturally akin to the Kamitic/Kemetic people generally speaking Khepera is birth, Ra is life, Ra Atum is death and Amun Ra is rebirth. This is why activities pertaining to life in Kamit/Kemet were associated with Khepera, the rising sun and the east, which is where the practice of facing east derived from.It was originally done to initiate or stimulate rebirth.  Today African American hymns still make reference to the east, just listen to the Winans song Tomorrow or Anita Baker and the Winans song Ain’t No Need to Worry. An analysis of the Kamiti/Kemetic culture will also reveal that activities associated with Ra Atum, the setting sun, and the west, were also associated with death, and so on.

As you can see, the Kamitic/Kemetic people were a very ingenious group of people that tried as best they could to protect their country from foreign invaders from the north, which they associated with the color red, that the reader will recall was associated with the younger brother Set, Lower Kamit and TASETT. The two lands of Kamit/Kemet are likened to the head (upper) and tail (lower) of Rau, which was later adapted and modified to the Story of Osar (the older brother) and Set (the younger brother).The color white by the way is the color of wisdom, purity, knowledge and the honorable dead.

The Kamitic/Kemetic peoples’ close observations of nature made them also observe what occurred within their being. It was understood that just like there was a KAMTA and TASETT that existed physically, KAMTA and TASETT also existed spiritually within man and woman. A man or woman that was peaceful, prosperous, righteous, truthful living, God fearing, fertile, disciplined, etc. was viewed as being influenced by KAMTA and associated with the “individual” called Osar. A man or woman that was untruthful, disrespectful of God, impotent/infertile, lacked self-discipline, a warmonger, rash, impoverished, etc. was said to be influenced by TASETT as was associated with the energy Set.

According to history one of the first Kamitic/Kemetic individuals associated with Osar was the first dynasty ruler named King Menes/Narmer. It is not known who was the first individual to become associated with Set, what is known is that Set later became Set-an and finally the Christian Satan. Because King Menes/Narmer was a physical, living human being, it disputes the popular claim that the Kamitic/Kemetic people worshipped gods and goddesses. A thorough analysis of their culture and the grand edifices that continue to stand that are actually memorials.  Reveals that what Egyptologists call gods and goddesses are actually categories for particular ancestral spirit. In other words, King Menes/Narmer became associated with Osar, which the reader will recall is associated with KAMTA (mystery, stability, strength, prosperity, peace, etc.) because he unified the country in the most peaceful way that he possibly could thus bringing prosperity. He was therefore revered as an ancestor, meaning Osar and all of the other so-called gods and goddesses of Egypt are actually guardian spirits. This is the reason why throughout Kamit/Kemet there are images of these spirits guiding and performing tasks like any other angelic being.  When we compare this to other African traditions with similar cultural practices and observe how it exists in contemporary times, it becomes clear what is Kamitic/Kemetic spirituality.

The Origin of the Amun Ra Religion

The real Ra or Rau within which corresponds to the Holy Spirit and Power of God, is all knowing, omnipotent and omnipresent because it is what is called in Western psychology the super conscious, the collective unconscious or God. It is a mystery, which is why the Kamitic people associated it with KAMTA.  The subconscious, which is the part of our being that corresponds to our personal memories, habits, etc. they associated it with TASETT.  It must be remembered that KAMTA and TASETT are also called the Upper Kamit and Lower Kamit, psychologically speaking what is termed today as Higher Self and the Lower Self.

Psychologists will tell you that the superconscious and the subconscious work together. Deep, intuitive messages come from the superconscious and are received in our subconscious as inspiring thoughts and actions. This is why the Kamitic/Kemetic people understanding the connection between the subconscious and superconscious, likened with the unification of KAMTA and TASETT. This is classic ancient African thinking that from the spiritual comes the physical, from the unseen comes the seen, the head to the tail, from the feminine principle comes the masculine principle, from the invisible comes the visible in order for there to be life, and so on, is all symbolized as the unification of KAMTA and TASETT.  The way to engage the superconscious and subconscious together is through conscious effort, which is how Khepera, Ra, Ra Atum and Amun Ra come into the picture, because they all correspond to our conscious mind, the rationalizing aspect of our being, which is our Soul.  When our Soul is at the Ra and Ra Atum moments we have difficulties because are attention is focused on the physical, the material, the things of the world, the limitations that exist in TASETT. When our Soul is at the Amun Ra and Khepera moments we are in the most receptive states and are able to receive guidance from the Rau. This is because our attention is focused on the whole perspective (spiritual/physical) and is opened to the endless possibilities that exist in KAMTA. The night sky is the limit or NO LIMIT.

What this means is that the Kamitic/Kemetic Way of Life in simple terms is all about listening and being receptive to the Rau – the Holy Spirit of God and the emissaries of the Rau, which are our aakhu (ancestors) and netcharu (guardian spirits).  When you are receptive to the Rau, the Rau (remember, being all knowing, omnipotent and omnipresent) will show you how to accomplish any and all of your objectives in life. If you have ever went to sleep with some thing on your mind and awoke with an answer, that answer came from the Rau – the Divine Spirit of God within our being that is connected to every living thing on the planet. Have you ever had a dream and in the dream you saw a deceased relative tell you something or your awoke from your dream with new insight on how to accomplish something, because you saw the deceased relative? This was your aakhu (ancestor) interceding on your behalf or delivering a message from the Rau. It is that simple and if you trust in the Rau the Rau will show you how to achieve any objective. If you state what you want to the Rau, the Rau will deliver it to you, which is why Jesus called the Rau – the Power and Spirit of God, the Comforter.

The Kamitic/Kemetic people understood this and this is why they categorized their ancestral spirits the way they did.  It was by observing nature they began to see a pattern and they recognized that when they said something that they didn’t really want it corresponded to Npu (Anpu, Sobek, Sebek, Anubis). Hence, the saying, be careful what you ask for you just might get it, but when they said something that they wanted. The Rau would provide them with an Npu guardian spirit that would help them to get what they want ethically, morally and without harming others. They understood who and what the Rau is and they knew, what prevents most people from achieving true happiness, peace, wealth, health, etc. is their ability to follow the Rau due to their fears, inhibitions, and past experiences.  All of these inhibitions correspond to TASETT or what older African Americans would call the blues or negative spirits the Kamitic/Kemetic people called aapepu influenced by Set. People want to debate if spirits are real or not.  If you want to know if a negative spirit is real all you have to do is say that you are going to do something positive and I guarantee you, you will have a bunch of energies/forces that will try to stop you. So to remind people that they are made in the image of God and that they are the controllers of their destiny, they built their civilization around the maa aankh.

Understand, at present besides the ankh or aankh symbol (which symbolizes the rebirth of one’s conscious or being “Born Again” there are no artifacts that have been found suggesting that the Kamitic/Kemetic people had a maa aankh, but do you know what?  There probably never will be a diagram found, because as stated before the Kamitic/Kemetic people lived it and like the Kongo-Bantu people their society revolved around it.  For those who need more proof, simply study the Kamitic culture and you will find that it corresponds to the various moments and philosophy.  As to why the maa aankh exists today it is because I asked the Rau – The Spirit for a tool to help me improve my life, because I was in dire need.  After benefiting from it, I was given the task to share it with others because our families, community and society are also in bad shape.  Simply put, God and our ancestors needs individuals who aren’t afraid to stand for truth and invoke (or conjure) the power of God on point to give people encouragement, inspiration and power to take back their life from Set and the aapepu.

KAMTA is a different form of spirituality because it approaches the Kamitic/Kemetic way from an oppressed person’s perspective, like the hero Hru fighting to reclaim, attain and maintain his or her heritage.  This unique perspective can not be learned by solely by books. It requires that one take a walk on the other side – KAMTA – in order get a full picture or holistic view of life.  This is why the basic mission of KAMTA is to help people with their everyday trials and tribulations by invoking the power of Nebertcher in their life.

Never Forget It Began in Kamit

The debate over the ethnicity of the Kamitic/Kemetic people should be laid to rest by now, but the reason it isn’t is because Western academia (despite the overwhelming evidence against their ridiculous claim) is still in denial that black and brown people made significant contributions to the world. The other reason why this argument has not been laid to rest is because although knowing that the Kamitic/Kemetic people were black and brown people has done wonders for the majority of us culturally. Many of us are still at a lost as to how to use this information to improve our lives because we have not learned how to use our history from an African perspective.

When I moved beyond the Western approach of history of only being concerned with who, what, when and why, one of the interesting facts that I discovered was that Kamit/Kemet consisted of a number of African ethnic groups who all shared a similar cosmology.  Signs of this cosmology have been found all over traditional Africa.  For instance, the Nok people were an ancient culture dating between 900 B.C. and 200 A.D, the ancient ancestors of the Yoruba people.  Interestingly, the name Nok it etymologically related to the Kamitic/Kemetic word Nuk, which means, “I AM”.

What was of particular interest to me was when I discovered that the Bantu people were one of the ethnic groups that once upon a time dwelled in Kamit/Kemet. It is believed that Bantu people, which is one of the largest ethnic groups in Africa, is responsible for spreading the Kamitic/Kemetic cosmology all over the African continent and possibly beyond.  For instance, one of the interesting things about the word Bantu is that it is similar to the Kamitic/Kemetic words Ba (the Divine Intelligence/Spirit corresponding to Osar/Ausar/Osiris) and Ntu (plural for men/women – meaning people). It was based upon this observation, led by my ancestors that I learned that in Kamitic/Kemetic cosmology, color (iwen) symbolizes a lot of things. The Kamitic/Kemetic artisan had at several types of colors that were created from minerals that they found in the earth. Unknown to most is that the minerals used to make these colors also reflect what these colors mean, and their significance to the Kamitic/Kemetic culture. The same was and is still practiced in the African Diaspora.  For instance, we have:

The color green (wadj/udaj) was made from mixing copper oxides of copper and iron with silica and calcium or from the natural copper ore malachite. While the color white (hedj and shesep) was produced  from chalk and gypsum, in other parts of Africa this color is created from clay.  Most of the sacred bowls and other objects in regards to embalming were made of white alabaster. Clothing including the gowns and footwear were white.

In Chapter 77 of the Pert em Hru (the so-called Book of the Dead), it is said that the deceased will become a falcon “whose wings are of green stone” Most Western scholars would assume that this stanza is impractical because they have no understanding of African spiritual culture. This is why they confuse Osar and claim that he is a fertility deity. If they only would humble themselves any true descendant of Kamit/Kemet would tell them by looking at Osar that, the color white is the color of purity, cleanliness and stability because it corresponds to bones, skulls, and the land of the dead, the Underworld, the Land of Osar or the Honorable Ancestors. The color green is associated with fertility and joy, which explains the reason why all throughout the folk Afro-Diaspora the color green is still associated with fertility and money. This means that Osar or the Aakhu (Ancestors) are responsible for fertility, hence the color of Osar’s face. To this day, many African descendants still honor their ancestors so that they can have prosperous crops. Ever heard of the New Yam Festival that takes place in Ghana and Nigeria? It is similar to the West’s Thanksgiving, but you would be very hard pressed to find an archeologists say this, because it seems they are content in making the Kamitic people appear to be polytheistic.  This is why we have to move beyond the Western interpretation and tap into ancestry.  

Osar is the symbol of a high ancestor and the ancestors are also honored so that one can conceive children, which is a tricky thing when you are talking about appealing to the dead for life. But, the Aakhu simply put cannot be destroyed because they are hedj (pure white) hence the backbone of Osar-the djett (stable).  This cultural belief still exists throughout the African Diaspora, that children are ancestors being reborn or returning to the Land of the Living, but it is the ancestors that are our cultural backbones. This is why in the Story of Osar, Oset magically conceived the child Hru.  It is very deep, mystical and beautiful when you think about it, and really makes you appreciate strong mothers.

Moving on, the Egyptologists and Kemetic reconstructionists will tell you that the color red (desher), was created, from red ocher and oxidized iron.  What they fail to mention is that this was also the color the people, would sometimes paint their body, because it corresponded to the envious Set and the fiendish serpent Apep. The color red was also associated with the red crown of Kamit/Kemet called the Deshret. While various objects were made of red stones to evoke the Eye of Ra. Some will tell you that the color red means “life and victory” but this would seem to contradict the fact that Set and appep were also associated with it. When we look to African cosmology we find that the true meaning of the color red is that of mediation.

The color red corresponds to the land of the living that the Kamitic/Kemetic philosophers called TASETT, the material realm (or materialistic reality) that is governed by Set and the appep. Metaphorically is symbolizes our Lower Self. Early Christians adopted the concept and this is why to this day they say the material world or secular world belongs to the Devil. There are also other sayings like the Devil in the Flesh, the Devil controls the Flesh and the Flesh is Weak, which are all referencing this age old cosmology. It should also be noted that if you look back far enough early Christians once believed that the literal Hell was in the north. This is where the idea of St. Nick or Santa Claus was derived from.

When it is understood that the color red means in Kamitic/Kemetic cosmology it becomes clear that it refers to the living because every physical living being metaphorically speaking has blood in them that gives them physical life. There is a double meaning to this as well; this means that everyone also has the potential to commit evil – hence the origin of the original sin concept. When we compare this to the Legend of Osar it makes sense why Hru must fight to reclaim his throne from Set. He is fighting to establish a balance between the spiritual and physical reality or the physical reality will totally consume him as it has done his uncle Set.

Again, when we look in the Afro-Disapora amongst traditional practitioners we find that the color red clearly symbolizes this same concept of mediation.  Ellegua the Yoruba psycho pomp aspect of Npu (Sebek/Anubis) who is able to go anywhere, color is red, but Ellegua also has a sort of trickster like nature, which is why European missionaries quickly associated him with the devil. The same has been done with Npu (Anubis). Whenever you watch any movie about Egypt, Npu is always incorrectly depicted as being evil.  Again, this is due to lack of understanding in African cosmology.  The color red also can be seen in the heroic Shango, whose arrogance, ego and abuse of power has got him trouble a number of times. Like his Kamitic counterpart Hru (Hrw, Heru or Horus in Greek), he is rescued or redeemed from a cooler headed divinity (according to some legends) by Obatala. Hru on the other hand is saved by Osaw (Asar, Ausar or Osiris in Greek), the Kamitic/Kemetic owner of whiteness and so on.   Let’s continue…

The color yellow/bright gold (khenet/kenit) was made from natural ochres and gold color from gold and silver alloys. This most famous color was used extensively in Kamitic art.  Many are familiar with it because of its use to adorn the faces of the mummies and the numerous statues, jewelry and other finds. Many will claim that it corresponds to the sun but this is only part of its meaning.  From a metaphorical perspective, the Kamitic people being keen to puns, the color yellow and gold means to become a shiny one, a glimmering or flashy one like a star. Stars have always been seen as enlightened spirits or angels hence the dog star Sirius. Note that one of the words for stars in the Kamitic/Kemetic language is Sba. Stars like enlightened spirits are guides. Some of these guides had the abilities to take the form of nature and were associated with shiny metals and precious stones like quartz.  This is why early African Americans would take quartz and make them into mojos (or hand charms) so that the spirit could guide them to their objective. This also explains the reason why Npu was in charge of the Opening of the Mouth Ceremony for the deceased, because he helped the newly deceased to be guides or spirit guides. Esoterically speaking, the color also refers to a new life or divine energy, hence the spark of life.

The colors blue and black are similar colors to each other. The color blue (irtiu, sbedj), which was made by combining oxides with calcium created a rich and unstable blue color. Many will tell you that it corresponded to crops, fertility and rebirth, but this is incorrect. Many arrived at this conclusion because the phoenix, which was patterned after the heron, had bright blue feathers.  Baboons were also colored blue even though they are not blue at all.  For this reason Egyptologists and reconstructionists assumed that Amun whose face was blue colored was associated with fertility and rebirth as well.

The color blue is associated with mysteries as well, but these mysteries are the mysteries understood and known by humankind.  If we were to compare this color to water it would be considered shallow waters.  This is why the herons and baboons were associated with it. The heron is able to stand, walk across these shallow waters or lightly step upon the floral resting on the waters. Certain monkeys and primates are able to play around these shallow waters as well.  The reason the phoenix and baboon were colored with the unstable color blue, which are associated with Djahuti (Tehuti/Thoth) is because they correspond to wisdom, hence experience.  Wisdom has the ability to change anyone’s life but how do most people get wisdom? Hard knocks, trial and error, etc. is how most people get wisdom, which brings one closer to God. Amun by the way is not God, no God is Amun “The Hidden One”, which is why His/Her face is blue because it is a Hidden aspect of God that controls the mystery of rebirth and renewal, not fertility or said another way, the mysteries of the Wisdom.

The color black (kem, kam) was created from carbon compounds such as soot, ground charcoal or burnt “animal bones.  I underlined bones because remember that bones are also associated with Osar.  Anyway, Western scholars and reconstructionists have desperately tried to associate this color with a negative connotation, so they claim that this is the color of death and the night.  Again, Npu (Anpu/Sebek/Anubis) whose colors are also black is often depicted as being evil in most Egyptian movies like the silly films The Mummy and The Mummy Returns because Westerners don’t understand African cosmology. This is why we find that the word necromancy is said to be evil or a form of black magic. The truth is that necromancy, which is derived from the word negro-mancy and niger-mancy refers to the practice of communicating with the ancestral dead. Although there are Western cultures that have practiced this form of divination throughout history prior to the spread of Christianity. The practice was forever associated with traditional African cultures particularly Kamit/Kemet because this is how they communicated with deceased rulers. It was a unique form of ancestor veneration, which is incorrectly called ancestor worship. So, what was so important about the color black?

Again, when we return to African color symbolism and how people in the African Diaspora have used this color we see that the color black is the color of mystery and rebirth. The color black refers to the deeper mysteries or deep waters.  These deep waters refer to the mysteries of the woman’s womb; no one knows (without dissecting and cutting people up – a true un-holistic approach to medicine) how a child is born, because it is a mystery. No one knows how many stars exist in the night sky because it is a mystery. No one knows how many ancestors one has, because it is a mystery. No one knows what happens after life because it is a mystery. Everything that exists in the dark is a mystery requiring that one use their inner eye. The loas of Vodun are called mysteries, just like all spirits in African traditions are referred to as mysteries. This is why the jackal, which technically speaking are brown colored, as Npu is depicted in the color black because he is a mystery and has the ability to lead us from and to this mysterious realm – the Spirit world. This is why the Kamitic/Kemetic philosophers called the southern region of the country the Black Lands. Literally, it was a reference to the fertile soil but spiritually it referred to the mysteries within, so they called it KAMTA.

KAMTA is where Osar dwelled symbolized as the southern white Hedjet crown.  Osar you will recall is the Lord of the Underworld and the first great ancestor according to Kamitic/Kemetic cosmology.  Westerners in their lack of understanding of this mysterious realm and fear of death called this realm Necropolis and those that followed the old Kamitic/Kemetic Way of Life in the past, necromancers. But, the true understanding of the word necromancy or negromancy is to communicate with the dead, hence ancestors/spirits.  It was an old practiced in which one would scry into black-colored water, the color water signifying of course the deeper mysteries in the hidden world.  A similar practice is used today but instead of dark water, mirrors and other reflective devices are used.  This is another clue referring back to ancestor veneration, which is a widely practiced tradition throughout the African Diaspora. Clearly as you can see Westerners have no clue what they are doing because they are not biologically and/or culturally linked to this tradition.

When we compare all of this above to the Kongo yowa cross or dikenga color symbolism. We find that Kala means black, sunrise, the east and birth…the same as Khepera. Tukula refers to the color red, the midday sun, the north and life…same as Ra.  Luvemba refers to the color white, sunset, the West and death….so does Ra Atum (and later Osar as Tem). Finally, Musoni refers to the color yellow, the moon and rebirth…so does Amun Ra.   It is clear to see that the Kamitic/Kemetic people are culturally the forefathers and mothers of many in the African Diaspora.  All of this as you can see can be traced right back to Kamit/Kemet.

This means when we put it all together. The Kamitic/Kemtic people didn’t worship the sun. They didn’t worship gods and goddesses. Amun Ra, Khepera, Ra and Ra Atum are not gods, but are concept used to express a deeper truth about who and what we are, and our relationship to the Divine. Your birthright has not been lost. All you have to do is reclaim it, so claim it now!
