I Hate the “This is What They Did in Africa” Mantra (Living Maa)

12 04 2018

Hetepu (Peace & Blessings) Family.

Let’s get right to it. I am so tired of hearing people tell me that “This is what they did in Africa” to justify their crazy beliefs, ideas, thoughts and practices. I mean, I get it and I understand why people say it because in the western world where we are taught to believe only in what we can physically measure (touch, taste, smell, hear and see). It is more convenient to say “This is what they did in Africa” then it is to say, “I am trusting my Osar (Asar, Ausar, Osiris, the Lord or Higher Self).”

But, here is the thing….Africa is not a country. Africa is a continent with 54 countries.  The people within the continent of Africa don’t speak African. There are over 2,000 languages spoken in the continent of Africa. Nigeria alone has 200 languages that are spoken within its country.  Africa is not one gigantic forest with millions of people living in huts. They have forests, savannas and thriving metropolis and industries because Africa is composed of numerous cultures.

What am I saying?

I am saying that Africa does not have a homogeneous society or culture.

When you say, “This is what they did in Africa” what part of Africa are talking about? Are you talking about the East, West, North or South of Africa? Which ethnic group are you speaking of that they did this? When they “did this in Africa” when did they do it and why did they do it? What was the purpose? Did “They do it” a million years ago, a thousand years ago, a hundred years ago or are they doing it now?

You get where I am going with this? Stop using “Africa” like the bible and the Koran to justify your silliness. When will people understand that what they did in Africa does not mean it is going to work over here. Just like what we do over here is not going to necessarily work over there.

Now, let me be honest, and tell you that I used to say this same stupid mantra too because I came across Family who would use it to justify everything they believed from diet to religious practices. All of that changed when I met and asked my godfather who was a Lukumi (Santeria) priest and member of the Abakua Society, why the Yoruba religion was not practiced in Cuba exactly the same way it is practiced in Nigeria in Cuba. For instance, why did they syncretize the orishas with the saints. My godfather told me in the simplest terms, “Because we ain’t in Africa!”

What works in Africa works in Africa but that doesn’t mean it is going to work here. This is what I keep trying to get Family to understand about Kemet. The Kemetic people never had to deal with systemic racism, capitalism, socialism, etc.  The Kemetic people lived in an agrarian kingdom with a relatively loving ruling class who cared about all of her citizens within her border. Prior to the advent of the slave trade and imperialism, the Akans, Fons, Yoruba, Ibo, Bantu-Kongo and various other ethnic groups did not live in a society that discriminated against people because of the color of their skin. If you offended the Ancestors, the Deified Ancestors and disrupted the order of the community, then that’s when the elders took you to the side and reeducated you and everyone to correct the error in our living. It was a spiritual culture and this is what it means to live in a spiritual, holistic culture, but we do not live there anymore. This is the reason when the Africans were brought to the Americas, their religions, spiritual practices and spiritual traditions could not survive unless they became more aggressive and defensive.   In other words, the spiritual practices and traditions had to adapt to the new circumstances in order to be useful.

This “It was done in Africa” mantra is a Setian (Egotistical) approach to fixing problems.  If you will recall, our Set (lower self/ego) relies on past experiences and only believes in the physical reality.   In other words, it only sees one side of the picture. It does not see the whole, so it discourages us from aligning with our Higher Self or Osar.  One of the ways it does this is by telling us “This is what was done in Africa (or China, India, etc.)” to get us to focus on the past or past experience because Set is stubborn and does not want to change but we have to realize that Maa is about living truth based upon perspective.

Let me give you another example. If you have ever eaten the Ghanian dish fufu (coco yam) or the Nigeria cuisine gari (cassava/yucca) you know that these are two of the main starches that are consumed throughout the West and Central Africa. I love eating fufu and gari but I cannot eat these dishes all of the time as it is done in parts of Africa for several reasons.  For one, I live in the United States and I am not as active as many who eat these foods as a staple of their diet.  Second, they are high in carbohydrates, which means if I am not very active these foods may cause my body to store additional sugar/fat.  Now, notice that I did not say that these foods were bad.  In fact, they are more nutritious than the regular potato but it is because of my lifestyle and the environment that I live in, which makes consuming these foods all of the time a problem for me.  Again, does this mean that I should not eat coco yam or cassava even though they were consumed in Africa? No, it simply means that if I am going to eat them I need to make adjustments to my lifestyle or limit my consumption of them. This is what it means to live according to Maa by taking everything in perspective.

It is not Maa to live your life based upon an outdated practices and traditions. Presently as I write this, I know guy right now who is from Ghana having the hardest time trying to succeed socially because he is still doing things as if he was in Accra. This guy has upset a lot of people he has come in contact with because he tells them he is proud that the “British colonized the world.” He literally believes that the British saved humanity through their savage ways, so when he said it aloud and was verbally accosted he did not understand why. Clearly, this guy does not see the whole picture and only believes what the imperialists have told him in the history books. Now, another reason for mentioning this guy is to show that everyone from Africa is not “conscious.” Just like everyone who wears their hair natural, in braids, in dreads, etc. is not “conscious” either. We need to stop repeating this mantra because all it does is make us focus on what was written in a book or some other superficiality.

If we stopped saying, “This is what they did in Africa” and just say, “Hey, I did it.” It is more convincing and let’s people see the Maa.  The Maa is not about trying to see how many people will follow you.  It is opening peoples’ eye so that we can change the “rotation of the planet.” Stop giving in and encouraging people to follow their Set. Remember, Set wants us to do anything and everything but listen and follow our Osar (Higher Self). Set will say anything and everything to keep us from hearing our Osar by telling us what we are doing is wrong, not supported by others, not favored by the majority, not the popular thing, etc.

Maa-The Path of the Feather

Maa-The Path of the Feather

Living your life according to Maa means trusting the God within you and testing the suggestions that are given to you.  Yes, you have to test it because remember the old scripture “every spirit is not a spirit of God (spirit of the Higher Self).” So, you have to test it and try it out to make sure it is the truth that is best for you and that it is coming from your Higher Self and not your lower self and some other low influences (negative ancestral spirits or aapepu).  And, by the way, testing and trying it out does not just mean seeing if the information is in a book.  You have to try it, test it out, see if it works for you and if it works for others.  This is the only way to know that a suggestion, comment, etc. is coming from the Higher Self.

This goes for people too. Most of you know that I come from a very religious family background. I had people tell me all of the time, “God said fill in the blank.” and when I was younger I would follow these so-called prophecies and wind up broke and hurt.  So, guess what? My Osar and Aakhu (Ancestors and Spirit Guides) know that they cannot approach me like this. They also know that I am going to put to the test whatever they tell me. So, when I get messages now, it is verified. If I am doing a ritual to Npu (Anpu, Sebek, Anubis or the Divine Messenger/Trickster of the Higher Self) and receive a message telling me I need to do something. It is verified through some type of omen. Npu may send three dogs across my path or I bump into a person wearing red and black, which are his colors.  I may be at the store and some stranger comes to me out of the blue and tells me something, thus verifying what the message and pointing me in the direction I need to go.  In other words, “God does not give a vision without giving provisions.”

So if a person claims to have your best interest at heart and state that their information is truth. You can test it to see if it is Maa and that individual should not have a problem with you doing so because, if they are truly sagely and of God.  They should understand that in these days and time we cannot take nothing for face value.  If this individual gets upset and offended, then they most likely are feeding your info to boost their Set (Ego).

Understand the more you listen to your Osar, the happier and better off you will be because you are free.

How Come the Lord Did Not Tell You Not to Sin?

3 04 2018

Hetepu (Peace & Blessings) Family.

I remember one day I was talking to this individual who had converted to Christianity not too long ago. Like most new converts, this individual was very zealous and all they wanted to talk about how “good God has been” to them.  Now, I was happy that this individual had changed their life because I knew them prior to their conversion and they needed religion in a bad way.  But, in a relatively short time after this individual had converted, I noticed that they had become a borderline fanatic.

As I listened to them go on and on and start every sentence with, “The Lord told me…” I noticed that they were dressed differently than usual. Instead of the normal street clothes they were now donning conservative wear. Their hair was processed and their skin was covered in acne. When I asked about their relationship with their spouse, they told me that they were having problems but they were going to fix their problems through the power of prayer.

Then, this individual invited me to attend a church revival with them because there was this guest preacher who was exorcising demons. They had told me that this was the second time this preacher had come to the city and the last time, “the Lord really blessed because this guy was on fire.” This individual also told me that the last time this preacher came they brought another preacher with them who was from the Dominican Republic, who had the power of healing. So, this revival was going to focus primarily on healing and exorcising demons.

Looking at this individual with a ‘gas face (skepticism).’ I told them as politely as I could. “No thank you,” but you know these religious zealots cannot take “No” for an answer and they asked again. Again, I declined, a second and third time, but then they said something that should not have struck a nerve but it did, which was.

“Ok. You just don’t want any healing. God could really bless you if you just attend.”

WTH?  That was it. I did not want to go off but I had no choice and asked, “Why doesn’t the Lord tell you to love yourself by eating nutritious food and stop putting a host of chemicals in your body? Why doesn’t the Lord tell you how to manage your anger and watch what you say so that you can stop offending your spouse and others? Why doesn’t the Lord tell you to respect people regardless if they believe and instead of trying to force people to accept what you believe, that you should instead live by example? I am just curious why the Lord never tells you this.”

Instead of answering my questions, they claimed that they had to leave so that they could get a good seat for church service.

Now, I knew this individual was not going to answer my questions because that is how most religious zealots are. They always claim that the “Lord” told them to do something and that you should follow whatever they say, but when you put personal responsibility back on them. They immediately shift it to the devil and claim that it was “the Lord’s” doing.  It is interesting that “the Lord” never tells these people about vanity, greed, envy, sloth, wrath, lust, and gluttony, which is what most religious individuals (especially in the United States) suffer from.

I mean, isn’t it bizarre that the Lord speaks to these people and gives them all sorts of insight but never says, “Thou Shalt Not Get Cosmetic Surgery. Thou Shalt Not Covet Thy Husband or Wife. Thou Shalt Not… (You get the point).”

Isn’t it interesting that the Lord talks to these people but never tells them how to avoid being overtaken by vanity, greed, envy, sloth, wrath, lust, and gluttony.  Better yet, how is it that these people are able to hear messages from the Lord telling them to do “his Will” in spreading the gospel, but not hear the Lord telling them not to offend others, have extramarital affairs, steal money, use drugs, etc.?

I propose that it was never the Lord talking to these people in the first place. If you look closely you will see that most of the religious leaders and most of the adherents who follow in their footsteps, are afflicted by three or more of the Seven Deadly Sins (vanity, greed, envy, sloth, wrath, lust, and gluttony).  The reason most adherents are not taught about the seven deadly sins is because they are not bible based.  In fact, the concept is said to be created by Evagrius of Pont, an Egyptian monk around 300AD. Evagrius compiled the list as a the “evil thoughts” that plague humanity, which circulated throughout Christendom. Although the Church denounced the sins and branded Evagrius a heretic, it was Dante’s Divine Comedy, which popular the sins as major transgressions against God that required the sinner confess and ask for repentance.

Now, the reason the Seven Deadly Sins were rejected was because it put a monkey wrench in the whole salvation scheme that claimed that Jesus died and washed away one’s sin.  According to theory, if Jesus died and washed away one’s sin, then the Seven Deadly Sin should not exist. If these concepts were allowed to flourish, salvation would have been put back in the hands of the individual.  The reason the Church banned the Seven Deadly Sins was because they could not profit from it. By banning this list and declaring Evagrius a heretic, the Church (and future Church leaders) could always claim that they are the mouthpiece of God.

Family. God exists within you and God is not going to give someone a message about you without telling you about it. This reminds me of a funny story.  My brother had helped this lady out one time by giving her a ride home from church, helping to carry things into her house, etc. Just to be nice. Apparently, this lady misinterpreted his kind gestures and told my brother, “The Lord said that you were going to be my husband.” To which, my brother replied, “Well, the Lord did not mention that to me” and that was the last time he talked to her. (Laugh).

Like I said, God exists within you and God is not going to give someone a message about you without telling you about it. This whole notion that the Lord is talking to people, is a manipulation and perversion of a metaphysical concept. The Lord talks to all of us but you need to know which Lord is talking to you.

Here are some more people who claimed that the Lord told them to do “His Will.”

By the way, should I mention that the “Lord” according to these religious zealots claimed to have told them to bomb churches.  This same “Lord” in history also told similar people to massacre the Amerindians and enslave the Africans because they did not worship Jesus.  The interesting thing is that even after they converted to Christianity, the “Lord” told them to continue to persecute the Native Americans and Black Americans. Oh, I forgot to mention that the “Lord” also told these men in Europe and the Americas to murder women and children because they were witches.

The “Lord” that these people worship is very violent and when he cannot get his way. He pouts, has a temper-tantrum and destroys whatever is in his midst because the Lord that most of these people are talking about is Satan. What the monk Evagrius was trying to convey to his ignorant Christian brethren is that we have two Lords: God and the devil, and they both exist within. The Seven Deadly Sins are the “evil thoughts” that lead to Satan.

No. Satan worshipers are not black robed people who meet on a Saturday night at 12 o’clock midnight and chant or read the bible verses backwards. Then, they disrobe and have a massive orgy and do all sorts of drugs. Nope, that’s the Greeks and Hollywood has been fascinated by this image because it models itself after the Greek city Athens, but these are real Satanic worshipers. The word Satan means Adversary and it was derived from the Kemetic Set-an, which refers to one’s lower self or ego. Thus, true Satan worshipers are worshipers of their Ego.    True salvation comes from self-control and self-discipline, and if these people would have listened to traditional African healers, priests and priestess. They would have explained to them that they have been worshiping the devil all along. This is the reason there is so much evil in the world and most of it is being committed by so-called God fearing individuals.

The real Lord that most of these people are worshiping is the Lord of Chaos, known in the Kemetic tradition as Set.  According to Kemetic legend, Set was so wild and uncontrollable that in order for Hru (Hrw, Heru or Horus) to defeat him, Hru had to castrate him.  Does it now make sense why our society has literally gone to hell in a gasoline basket with dynamite? Can you see how most of these people who are claiming that the Lord is talking to them are really listening to Set based upon their egotistical, prideful, selfish, lustful, vengeful, gluttonous, greedy and narcissistic behavior? Yes, it is Set who is ruling the world but there is nothing to fear. Unlike the religious fanatics who are bracing for the end of the world because they believe the devil is some physical impish red man running around with a pitchfork challenging God, so they believe they are helpless.

We know that the true devil is our lower self and the way to stop the devil is to simply deny him power. In other words, stop listening and following your ego and learn to follow your Higher Self.  This is what the battle between battle between Hru and Set is all about. Stop giving into your Set (Ego)! Fight him! Stop worshiping Jesus and BE JESUS by telling Set,

“Get ye behind me Set-an!”

The obvious question is how do you know when it is the Lord (your Higher Self) speaking and not the Lord of Chaos? Well, when Set is talking to you, the Lord of Chaos usually is going to cater to your anxieties, fears, worries and guilt.  Think about that. Everything that you are afraid of, worried about, get anxious about, etc., this is what the devil preys upon.  In fact, every time you try to do what is Right, it is Set who whispers in your ear to do what is Easy by robbing, stealing, cheating, manipulating, exploiting, abusing and taking advantage of others emotionally, financially, physically, sexually, etc.  Proof of this can be seen in all of the cases of the corrupted public and religious official. Not only that Family. Your Set does not want you to embrace your divinity. Your Set wants you to believe you are powerless and that God has abandon you. Your Set preys upon using your fears.

Thankfully, we have a Higher Self or Osar.  When your Higher Self or Osar tells you to do something.  It is usually what you do not want to do but is the Right thing to do.  Your Higher Self or Osar encourages you to do what is Right instead of what is Easy. The cool thing about following your Osar is that the more you listen to your Higher Self, the louder this voice becomes and the stronger you become spiritually. To the point that no one or no thing will be able to sway and take advantage of you ever again. Not only that, you can generate your own prosperity and blessings instead of falling for these scams.

Understand. The true power of God is within and to use it requires self-control and self-discipline. If something or someone tells you differently, note that this is not Osar or the Lord speaking.  it is Set.

What Does It Really Mean to be a God on Earth?

21 03 2018

Hetepu (Peace & Blessings) Family.

You know, the other day I was watching the 1984 comedy Ghostbusters on Netflix, about three parapsychology professors who created a business removing ghosts.  In the climax of the movie, the Ghostbusters are trying to defeat the main antagonist Zuul, who is said to be a demigod of destruction and chaos. Before Zuul shoots lightning out at the Ghostbusters, Zuul asks “Are you a god?”  to which one of the Ghostbusters (Ray) responds “No.” Immediately afterwards, Zuul sends bolts of lightning to the Ghostbusters nearly pushing them off the ledge of the skyscraper.  Thus, prompting Winston to say, “Ray, when someone asks you if you’re a god. You say Yes!”

Aside from the fact that it was Winston (of all people) who tells Ray to tell a demigod that he is something that he is not, this made me wonder why didn’t Ray answer that he was a god. Then, it came to me that it was because in Christianity (and Islam) we are taught that whenever we are in a bind. To call out to God for help because we are God’s humble and pitiful creatures that need saving.

Where did this idea that human beings are lowly creatures that need saving come from? Well, remember the biblical story about the Children of Israel and how they fled Egypt. If you grew up in the west, you have read and heard this story numerous times.  We are captivated by the Exodus story because the Children of Israel are depicted as the underdog against the mighty Egyptian army. We are told according to biblical accounts that the Children of Israel cried out to God to save them and the Lord parted the Red Sea, thus allowing the Children of Israel to pass and drowning the Egyptian army.

Now, never mind the fact that the Exodus story is a complete fabrication because there is no historical proof that the Kemetic people had slaves, no archaeological evidence that slave labor existed or was used to build edifices, and there was no massive exodus. In fact, as I mentioned in Why God Does Not Answer Your Prayers, the word pharaoh is not a title given to the Egyptian rulers, but was the name of one of foreign dictators when the Hyskos ruled Kemet. In other words, he was not even Kemetic but Semitic meaning this was a Semitic king who was being harsh to other Semitic people.

But, the real surprise is that according to Jewish writers this is not a true account of how the Exodus story occurred. According to Jewish scholars (particularly Kabbalist) when the Children of Israel stood before the Red Sea with the encroaching army on their heels, they cried out to God to save them, and God replied, “Why are you calling me?”

In other words, God was telling the Children of Israel, “You are made in my image, so use your divine powers to get out of the mess you are in.” And, through the Children of Israel’s power, they parted the Red Sea, not God.

Again, the story is completely fictional and it was created to teach very valuable lessons to young Jewish children who were feeling pitied. But, imagine if you were taught like Jewish children, that God does not save you but God has empowered you to save yourself? Imagine if you were taught that you can do whatever is humanly possible because you were made in the image of God? Imagine if you were taught that by working together with your own people you can create miracles; how different your life would be?  Could you imagine the impact this truth would have upon your life?

Yes, it would have been astronomical and this is why we need to understand that spirituality is psychological.  The main reason many of us are not able to accomplish our goals in life is because we have been taught to believe that our savior exists outside of us.  In other words, we have been taught to be totally dependent upon others outside of us even if they do not share our best interests because we are not worthy.

Therefore, correct this flaw by ridding yourself of this destructive belief about your divinity. Instead of asking for God (and others) to pity you, remind yourself that you are an exceptional human being made in the image of the Divine. In other words, remind yourself that you are Child of Osar, a Hru (hero, Hrw, Heru, Horus). The only one who can save you is you by aligning yourself with your Osar (Asar, Ausar, Osiris, or Higher Self within).

When you align yourself with your Osar, all types of new ideas, thoughts, miracles, etc. occur because remember, your Osar (Higher Self is your Superconscious). If you will recall, this is the part of our being that is responsible for making magick and miracles occur according to all the great inventors, scientists, mathematicians, etc., which our Kemetic ancestors created an elaborate culture based upon.

Since most of us are creatures of habit, meaning we are strongly influenced by the subconscious (lower self) part of our being, it is best to surround our self with images that remind us of our divinity. This will help us because the problem that most of us have about our divinity is not that do not know we are made in the image of God.  It is that when we get in a pinch, we forget we were created to be gods and goddesses.  When we have obstacles and problems that force us to tap into our divine power, this is the setting sun moment illustrated on the Maa Aankh as the Ra Atum moment and on the Kongo dikenga (or Kongo Cross) as Luvemba.  It indicates that we are at a pivotal moment in our life where the dying of the old and rebirth of the new occurs.

In other words, the only way to be reborn is to face your fears but if you keep crying for someone (or some thing) to save you as Christian storytellers have suggested. We will never be truly saved or delivered.  The only way we can be saved is by always keeping in mind that we are made in the image of the Divine, which means God will always have your back.

What it means to be a god or goddess on earth is someone who has no fear and invokes the power of God within to change situations at will.  They are proactive, not reactive and en route to becoming immortal.

Therefore, instead of crying out to God (and others) to save us, it is best to repeat “There is no one coming to save you Hru because God sent you.”

KAMTA: Recreating the Real Black Church

24 01 2018
Hetepu (Peace & Blessings) Family.
I have had some people ask how I discovered Kamta and was able to make all the connections. Well, all I can say is that it was because of my ancestors. I like a lot of people had read and studied Kemetic history, lore and spirituality for some years but I was not able to make any headway. Then, things changed when I began working with my ancestors and asking them to guide me in my understanding (See: How to Distinguish between the Higher Self, Ancestors, Spirit Guides and lower self).
What they showed me was that when the first Africans were brought to North America, they were taken from the Kongo-Angolan region and forced to work as indentured servants.  Since the Kongo ruler had voluntarily converted to Christianity prior to the advent of the trans-Atlantic slave trade, most of the people taken from the Kongo-Angolan region were either Christian or at least familiar with the Christian faith and already had a working syncretism with their indigenous beliefs in place. Consequently, because these Africans had Africanized Christianity, it is believed by some scholars that the Portuguese and Spaniards called these Africans the pejorative term Judio (pronounced hoo-dee-oh) which is Spanish for Jewish referring to the Jews who continued to practice the Old Religion (Judaism) even after learning about Jesus Christ. The term judio was later corrupted in the English language and became what we call hoodoo.
Although there are some authors who attempt to trace the term hoodoo to an African source, it should be noted that most African Americans never used the term to refer to their spiritual practice because in the African mindset.  Hoodoo was considered a form of witchcraft, which was a forbidden practice. The term is totally a European creation that was used to describe early African American spirituality and in particular the Black Church.

The Kongo Cross

So, when the descendants from the Kongo-Angolan region arrived in North America they were stripped of all of their possessions.  However, they managed to bring with them their dikenga commonly called today the Kongo Cross, which is a unique Kongo cosmogram that mapped the universe. Although these early Africans in North America were not able to syncretize their beliefs and practices under the guise of the Catholic saints as their kinfolk had done in Brazil, Cuba, Haiti and other parts of South America. Through the Kongo Cosmogram or Kongo Cross, our early ancestors managed to use the Kongo cosmogram to syncretize their beliefs with the Protestant Christian faith in order to create their own religion.
They were able to accomplish this feat because the Kongo cosmogram like most medicine wheels could be interpreted in numerous ways depending upon perspective. For instance, the basic understanding of the dikenga or Kongo Cross is that our universe is composed of two worlds – the land of the living (above) and the land of the dead (below). When human beings incarnate to the land of the living, his or her soul mimics the four movements of the sun – Kala (Sunrise/Birth), Tukala (Midday/Life), Luvemba (Sunset/Death) and Musoni (Midnight/Rebirth).  However, if an individual was experiencing a lot of bad luck, failing health, grave misfortunes, etc., it was understood that the individual’s sun is setting or dying due to some impurity (or sin). In this case, it was necessary for the individual to travel to the land of the dead so that their ancestors could purify them and they could be reborn.
Kongo Cosmogram

Basic Kongo Cosmogram

Rebirth consisted of going to the land of the dead because the land of the dead called mpemba or the “land of whiteness” and purity was seen as a mysterious realm where one found great rewards. Allegorically the land of the dead or mpemba was believed to exist underground but could also be found where the land of the living and the land of the dead met like the plantation and the hush harbors, a city and the forest, a town and the wilderness, a municipal and cemetery, land and a body of water, etc.
Now, what’s unknown to most is that for a long period of time, the original Black Church did not meet in buildings. No, quite the contrary. Our ancestors met in brooks, groves, hush harbors, etc. because slave owners, fearing that early African Americans were plotting a revolt, prohibited them from congregating. When the Second Great Awakening occurred in North America, that’s when a large number of early African Americans willingly converted to Christianity particularly the Baptist and Methodist denominations. Although, most historians are uncertain as to why this massive conversion took place, a thorough analysis of the Old Kongo thinking reveals that it was most likely because full body baptism (submersion into a body of water) was most likely interpreted as the passing into the land of mpemba. Remnants of our Old Kongo belief can still be found in the church today, which is the reason before adherents are baptized.  They are instructed to wear white robes or garments. Another example of this philosophical thinking can be seen in the fact that most elders within the church wear white, and so on, which corresponds to the Luvemba moment – the setting sun – also the color white.
But due to charlatans within our community, the commercialization and exploitation of African American spirituality by outsiders, the Black Church has become a hollow institutions that focused solely on religious entertainment. The loss of African philosophy and theology, combined with the passing of the elders unable to pass their spiritual knowledge to subsequent generations, has resulted in the steady decline of the Black Church.
It was my ancestors that helped me to see that the people of the Kongo-Angolan region were part of the Bantu or Ba-Ntu tribal group, which archeologists and historians have found, once upon a time lived and dwelled along the Nile River. Because as the saying goes: there is nothing new under the sun. The remnants of the Kongo Cross in North America could be syncretized with the Kemetic Amun Ra system to create the maa aankh cosmogram.
For the record, I had read the Story of Ra and Oset (Isis) numerous times.  In fact, I read it so many times that when I saw or heard any mention of it.  I just glossed over it because I did not seen any importance of it. But, it was my ancestors that led me to understand that Ra’s “Secret/Hidden” name was Amun (the Hidden) Ra.  They later showed me how Amun Ra corresponds to the Moon, which was given greater significance then the Sun. It was through this understanding that led me to discover the Maa Aankh.
The basis of the Maa Aankh cosmogram is that the world is composed of two lands called above TASETT (the Red Lands), which is ruled by Set, and KAMTA (the Black Lands), which is ruled by Osar – the owner of the white hedjet crown.  When a human being incarnates to the land of the living or the harsh Red Lands, we must follow the path of Ra, which was discovered by Oset – KhepeRA (Kala in KiKongo/Sunrise/Birth), RA (Tukala in KiKongo/Midday/Life), RA Atum (Luvemba in KiKongo/Sunset/Death) and Amun RA (Musoni in KiKongo/Midnight/Rebirth).

                                   Maa Aankh Cosmogram

Similar to the Kongo land of the dead or mpemba (land of whiteness/purity), KAMTA is called the Black Lands because of the dark fertile soil due to the inundation of the Nile River, but it is an allusion to the mysterious spiritual realm of the ancestors.  Hence, the reason the Kemetians referred to the southern region as the land of their ancestors and symbolized this region by the white Hedjet crown and the Kemetic ancestor Osar.
The purpose of sharing this with you is because many of us (myself included) have been convinced that we were stripped of our culture and it is just not true. The whole purpose of telling us this is so that we never return back to our cultural way of thinking. There are all sorts of examples I could list to prove that we did not lose our culture. We lost the philosophy and theology behind our culture, which is the reason many talk about the ancestors but are afraid to work with them.
KAMTA is the recreation of the brooks, groves, hush harbors, the forest, the wilderness, the cemetery, the underground, the lake, the sea and anywhere there is a mysterious reward including the deep recesses of the mind. This is where all of our answers and solutions come from, and why our ancestors met there to plot their revolts.  So, don’t be afraid of the dark because this is where our ancestors reside.
Hope this helps.

What is the Difference Between Ma’at, Maa and maa?

12 01 2018
Hetepu (Peace & Blessings) Family
You know, there are a lot of people leaving organized religion because they are tired of the religious dogma, religious fear and guilt about God, and religious social control.  Since many of the Judeo-Christian beliefs were adopted or borrowed from the Kemetic spiritual system like Ten Commandments which were modeled after the so-called 42 Laws of Ma’at; the entire birth, life and death of Jesus was borrowed from the life of Hru (Heru or Horus in Greek), and so on.  Many people are embracing Kamitic or Kemetic spirituality because it appears to be an unadulterated form of Christianity.

Although it is true Judaism, Christianity and Islam borrowed many of their concepts from the Kemetic spiritual system, it is important that one does not err in practicing Kemetic spirituality as if it is a western religion because Kemetic spirituality is based upon understanding the difference between Ma’at, Maa and maa.

First, Ma’at, Maa and maa all translate to mean balance, order, justice, righteousness, truth, etc. but they do not mean the same thing.

Capital case, Maa refers to Universal Truths. These are basically truths that affect us all regardless of color, race, ethnicity, beliefs, creeds, etc. For instance, gravity falls under Maa because it does not matter where you are on the planet, if you throw a rock up in the air, it is going to fall down regardless of who you are, your social status, whether you believe in it or not, etc. Maa is often referred to as Universal Laws, God’s Laws or Universal Principles. Note that the Supreme Being did not write these laws down and instruct that humanity follow them or else. It is just that over the ages, sages from all over the world, since the beginning of time studied the cosmos and conceived universal principles. In fact, all of the great spiritual teachers, ascended masters, etc. are actually students of the Maa, which is the reason most religions have the same core principles and talk about love, peace, prosperity, compassion, wealth, charity, etc.
Scale of Maa

Scale of Maa

Lower case, maa refers to personal truths, personal way or la manera (Spanish). This is basically truths that pertain to an individual based upon their beliefs, experience, maturity, cognizance, etc.  From this perspective the 42 Laws of Ma’at (42 Negative Confessions, 42 Declarations, etc.) are actually the scribe Ani’s personal affirmations.  It would not do me any good to affirm “I have not swindled offerings, I have not stolen from the Gods/Goddesses, I have not stolen anyone’s land,” etc. because I do not live in those times so they do not directly apply to my life.  So, maa pertains to doing what is right, orderly and just in regards to perspective.
For instance, I love vegetables but the one vegetable I cannot stomach are brussel sprouts. I have tried to eat brussel sprouts steamed, boiled, grilled, baked, smothered in sauces, etc. and they still incite a gut jerk.  Now, is that to say that Brussel sprouts are bad for everyone because of my reaction. No. It is just me and maybe others as well, so if I say “Brussel sprouts are nasty and not good.” I am speaking from a subjective perspective and is based upon my experience and opinion.

A lot of people confuse Maa with maa and vice versa, which is one of the main  reasons there are so many religious fundamentalists in our world today. For instance, some people will say that drinking alcohol is evil because of drunk driving, alcoholism, etc. But if that were the case everyone that consumes alcohol would be a drunk driver and alcoholic, which we know is not true. It does not affect everyone the same.  However, we know drunk driving and alcoholism are real also.

Maa-The Path of the Feather

Maa-The Path of the Feather

This leads us to ask why does drunk driving, alcoholism and other evils regarding alcohol exist? It is because of imbalance. When alcohol, like most of the things in our world, are abused and not used or consumed in moderation, it creates an imbalance and this introduces us to Ma’at.Ma’at is the personification of both Maa and maa. She is the archetype of righteousness, the divine protector of the Law, the goddess of truth, and the guardian spirit of balance and order. Ma’at is both merciful and vengeful at the same time.

I was taught to never leave an open drink alone and if you do, do not drink it. To always look at your food and drink before and if you sense you should stop to do so because that next bite or next sip could be your last. Of course, these are old folk beliefs and practices but every time I have disobeyed them I have ran into problems.
If you think about that last bite of chocolate cake, the last shot of alcohol, that last bench press, etc. you know that you were toying with the scales of Ma’at and moving from moderation to excessive-ness.
For the record, Ma’at is merciful and forgiving, so when this is done a couple of times, she may smack you on the hand and remind you not to do it again.  But, if you do this too often, well you know the consequences.
Understand, Ma’at does not punish you for making mistakes. Ma’at punishes you for not living in moderation by reminding us that we reap what we sow. Ma’at is cherished because she helps us to find the middle ground or moderation and this is what invokes her mercy. Ma’at is an essential ally in our spiritual development because she helps us to align our personal maa with the Universal Maa.

Why Mimicking Kemet Does Not Work

12 10 2017

Hetepu (Peace & Blessings) Family.

One day when I had started this whole journey I was called to jury duty. Like most people, I tried my best to get out of it but there was no escape. I had to go, so on Tuesday I got a book and headed downtown to the courthouse. When I arrived, one of the bailiffs told everyone who was waiting that we could have a seat in one or two rooms, while they went through the jury selection process.  I decided to go into the waiting room that did not have a TV, so I could read. When I went inside, there was a guy looked like he was in his mid-30s reading a book.  He looked up and saw me, and we nodded at each other and sat down I opened my book.

About 15 or 30 minutes into my book, the guy next to me noticing that the title of my book had the word Kemetic, asked what I was reading. I told him the title and he flashed the cover of his book, which was about the kabbalah system. From that moment, we started talking about the various esoteric systems, history and spiritual development.

Around noon, the baliff came in and told us that we could take a lunch but not to go too far because they are conducting jury selections. So, me and this brother went to the cafeteria and continued talking about everything we had learned. When we got to the cafeteria, he paid for my lunch so that we could continue talking. Then, as we’re eating he asked me how I was doing on my physical. By physical he meant, my money, my daily exercises, my sleep, etc.

I told him, “Well, I am okay. I can be a little better” and then he said something that changed my life. He told me that he was not 30 but actually 52 years old. He mentioned that the other day, he beat his 16 year old son in a 100 yard dash. Looking at him in total amazement, he explained how he exercised and it was HIIT (High-intensity interval training) before HIIT was ever discovered and mentioned.

Then, he asked me, “Can I be honest with you?” I told him to go ahead, and then he began to tell me some hard truths. He told me that I was working the spiritual thing properly and that my understanding in history was coming along great, but my physical was weak. He said, “If you look at the Ancient Egyptian wall carvings. You will not see overweight or malnourished Ancient Africans. They were fit people…”

Astonished by his acute observation but his wisdom still was flying over my head, I said, “Well I try to exercise and stay on top of things.”

Seeing that I was not totally grasping what he was saying he said, “No little brother. What I am saying is that the reason the Kemetic people were able to accomplish so much is because they did not have to worry about their physical.”

As soon as he finished the sentence, the light bulb came on and I said, “You’re right! The Nile River provided the Kemetic people with everything they needed to nourish themselves, which allowed them to focus on other issues like the mysteries of the universe. “

“That’s right! So, are you doing the same?”

The answer of course was no, and with that he said, “That’s where the problem lies.”

The message was simple, deep and shook me to the core because at the time I was really about mimicking the Kemetic way of life. Technically speaking, the Kemetic people never had a religion because they were attuned with Nature (NTR). They had always believed in the existence of One Supreme Being years before the heretic king Akhenaten was born and promoted his Atenism movement but even then. The people were still attuned with nature and it was this way of life that was spiritual. They learned how to trust their Higher Self, it was the Jews, Christians, Arabs and the Moors, who refused to develop themselves spiritually that gave birth to what we call today religion. Then, shortly after, the bailiff came in and told us that we were free to go because the case had been settled out of court.

I thanked him for dinner and the stimulating conversation. I exchanged phone numbers and I went my separate way. Then, it hit me that he was wearing a reddish (burgundy) sweater, I met him on Tuesday at the courthouse and all of this occurred around 12 Noon.  There were all signs that I was talking to an incarnation of Kemetic warrior spirit Hru Aakhuti. In other words, Hru Aakhuti was monitoring my progress and decided to pay me a visit by giving me some advice on things that I should be doing.

I remember that I was sort of weirded out when I realized this but then I remembered that there were numerous biblical stories of how angels appeared, but I never experienced this until I stopped being religious.

The funny thing is that when I called this guy a few days later, he seriously acted as if he did not know me. However, the message he told me stayed with me to this day. It is because of what he said, I believe that the reason it so difficult to come up with new ideas and solutions. Is because many of us are in survival mode, which the Kemetic people in general never faced. To add to this dilemma, the reason many of us are in survival mode is because of post slavery conditionings. This is the reason I could no longer mimic what the Kemetic people because they don’t know my struggle.

For the record, please understand that I am not religious bashing.  I know there are numerous paths that have led us to be at this point, but we have to see the facts for what they are. We have to accept the fact that none of the religions that we have subscribed to have improve our lot.  They have all further divided us because they are all misinterpretations and/or perversions of our Nilotic ancestors teachings used against us.  This is the reason it is silly to mimic someone else’s interpretation of what our ancestors did.  Our ancestors worked with their ancestors and trusted their intuition, which is what we need to get back to doing.

The good news is that I found solace in knowing that they were near and had not abandoned me. I also found solace in understanding that the importance of meditation, divination and rituals, is to get us to that peaceful mind state that our Nilotic ancestors had that led them not to worry about where their food was going to come from. In other words, the concepts and principles are still applicable and with them we can change our world. What we need to understand is that the last thing we need is another religion to teach us how to be children of God. All we need to do is to listen to our higher Self and reclaim our divinity.

Five Reasons You Should Have a Het (Spiritual House) for Your Spirits

29 09 2017

Hetepu (Peace & Blessings) Family.

You know, the other day I was looking at my het (spiritual house/altar) and just thinking about how much it has grown from a simple cloth on a wooden box to a two-story altar with a plethora of empowering images. As I gazed upon my het, I am reminded of how much I have grown from mimicking the altars of others out-of-ignorance, to being able to construct a het anywhere by drawing a gateway with a piece of chalk on the ground as my ancestors have done before me.

Kongo Cross used for Ventilation during Underground Railroad

I am amazed at how much I have grown from seeing ordinary objects with concrete images to seeing how anywhere that lines meet form a maa aankh and can become a sacred space.  I stare in awe as I gape upon the numerous images and glasses of libations, which reminds me of the sense of community that the Kemetic people used to defeat the shemsu Set (followers of Set). I see that for those of us on this shamanic path that our het is very important for five reasons and they are:

  1. Reminds You That You Are a God/Goddess. Western religions separate human beings from God and always depict divinities such as angels, saints, martyrs, etc. as towering and tyrannical entities similar to the Greek gods. In Kemetic shamanism we are reminded that the so-called gods and goddesses were once people too. When their images are placed on the het at eye level or on the ground, we are reminded that our Spirits are not above us, and we are not above them.  But that they need us just as much as we need them, just like Osar needed Hru and vice versa. A het is built on the floor to remind ourselves and our Spirits that they are warriors.  A het is built at eye level to remind us and the Spirits that we are here to help one another. Therefore, the het is visual reminder of the partnership that must be created between us and our Spirits in order to achieve our destiny.
Npu (Anubis) - The Opener of the Way

Npu (Anubis) – The Opener of the Way

  1. Reminds You That You Are Responsible for Your Life. While it may be a great relief to put all of our cares and worries in the lap of some cosmic deity. It does not erase the why we are here, which is the reason if we continue to struggle with certain issues and problems throughout our life. It is because this problem is tied to your destiny, which means you incarnated to this planet to learn how to overcome that issue. A het reminds you of your purpose and helps you to gather the spiritual strength to achieve your divine purpose, by reminding you of the life of those who came before you.
  1. Helps You to Elevate Your Thoughts. Believe it or not our Spirits know that life on earth is hard because our sahu (physical-body consciousness) has been created to help us to physically survive. Consequently, everything that we do in nature supports our lower self, which means we are naturally selfish and egotistical beings. It is because human beings have an Ab soul that we can choose to rise above our animalistic or lower nature to access our divine nature or BA (Higher Self). The problem is that we have to be constantly reminded of our divine nature because all it takes is for one thing such as someone cutting us off in traffic, flipping us the bird, etc. And, BAM! We forget that we are gods and goddesses having a human experience and revert to our lower self. The het helps us to remember that we are divine beings by allowing our Spirits to interact in our daily life. So, when someone cuts off in traffic, before reacting we notice that the car is red and black, hence Npu or when someone flips us the bird. We see signs of Setian influence all around that person and so on. In other words, the het helps us to see life from a cosmic perspective.
  1. Provide Space to Practice Your Magick. I hear people saying all the time, “Wo/Man were made in the likeness of God” which means that we are supposed to be gods and goddesses too, but when it comes to people demonstrating their godliness. All they do is beg God to save them or save someone else. The Christian speaker Jesus says that all of these things that he does, we will be able to do the same and more through the Father (the Christian code for the BA or Higher Self). This means that when we connect to our BA, we all have the power to bless, heal, etc. as Jesus has done. The het provides the space for us to practice our magick and realize our divine potential. It allows you to contribute to creation instead of being a pawn of nature.
  1. Frees You From Mental Slavery. The Western world was created to gratify our animalistic or lower self. It thrives on the survival of the fittest model, which requires that humanity like animals connive, enslave, steal and kill others to survive. Every aspect of Western society from their religion to politics, to their education to medicine, it is all driven by the same theme, which involves exploiting and subjugating others. This is why the Western society is flirting with disaster because it does not know how to teach its citizens how to get solutions from the BA (Higher Self). Even after the greatest Western minds like Thomas Edison, Henry Ford and many others have attested to the power of this Higher Intelligence, Westerners refuse to explore and teach this truth, thus further encouraging its members of society to invest in their lower nature and ultimate demise.
The het gives us an escape by helping us to communicate with souls of the past, thereby exploring new ways of how to solve old problems.

There are other reasons why the het is a very powerful spiritual tool and when you understand its importance.  It will become clear that the reason Westerners demonized our spiritual practices and destroyed our altars, shrines and collected our sacred objects, which they store in their museums, is because they could not reproduce the same results.  So instead, Westerners chose to eradicate free thought but thankfully the souls of the righteous do not die and our Spirits are always near. If you are sitting on the fence as to building a het for your Spirits, I hope this article will help you to build your Spirits a home.
