Hetepu (Peace & Blessings)
If you are new to spiritual development/magick you will often hear people say “You have to raise your vibration” or “You need to vibe at a higher frequency.” Often times, a lot of people (especially seasoned practitioners) who use this term expects everyone to know what this term means but this lingo typically loses a lot of people. So let me explain what this means.
First it must be understood that there are numerous spiritual/magickal systems that exist, which theorize how to spiritually grow and magickally evolve. The two most popular systems are the Tree of Life, which is based upon the belief that metaphysically we all have 12 spheres called sephiroth that correspond to different levels of consciousness. The second most popular system is the energy system, which is based upon the belief that we all have seven psychic energy centers called chakras. Now, I have to state a disclaimer so that this is not interpreted literally. Disclaimer: Please understand that these are the two most popular systems that theorizes how to spiritually. They are not the only truth.
Taoism & Huna
There are numerous other spiritual systems that exist because as long as man and woman have walked the earth.
They have pondered the mysteries of the Universe and the human spirit. So there are numerous systems that exist such as the Druid system, the Yoruba Ifa system, the Huna system, Taoism, Kamta, etc. This means whichever system you decide to follow, any of these systems will work. Simply choose the one system that best fits your needs.
Returning to our subject matter at hand, both the sephiroth and the chakra system, along with all of the other spiritual systems correspond with each other because they are based upon universal truths regarding the nature of the human spirit. In other words, all spiritual systems focus on spiritual development through raising one’s consciousness/energy. This is the reason it does not matter which system you choose, you cannot go wrong.
Therefore, when you hear people say “You have to raise your vibration” or “You need to vibe at a higher frequency.” Typically they are speaking from a chakra perspective but the reference corresponds and overlaps with other systems, which is the reason most do not explain themselves when saying it.
So what does it mean to raise your vibration/consciousness?
First everyone has their own way of explaining this concept so I am going to explain it from a Kemetic shaman perspective. To comprehend this you need to understand that there is no such thing as good and bad, or good and evil. There is only Energy, which has a positive and negative charge. In the Kemetic tradition this energy is called Ra, Re or Rau (incorrectly called the sun god, Chi or Ki in Taoism, Prana/Kundalini in the chakra system, etc.). The two charges are called in the Kemetic tradition Shu (the Taosim Yang) and Tefnut (The Taoism Yin), the so-called god and goddess of air and fire, and moisture.
Shu the Kemetic Yang (left), Ra the Kemetic Chi/Ki (center), Tefnut the Kemetic Yin (right), standing on Maa
If this energy is too Shu (Yang), then it is too hot and dry and burns like an uncontrollable fire. In this case the energy is not conducive for most life such as life in a desert, hence the northernmost part of Kemet called TaSett (the Red Lands), which was mythologically ruled by Set (the lower self).
If this energy is too Tefnut (Yin), then it is too cold and wet, and floods like an uncontrollable water, thus making it difficult for living conditions as well. This is symbolized as the southernmost part of Kemet which flooded annually called KamTa the Black Lands. This region was symbolized by the white Hedjet crown worn by Osar who was murdered by his younger brother Set due to his naivete.
However, when there is a relatively perfect balance between the Shu (Yang) and the Tefnut (Yin), the burning fire is able to clear enough water to make way for land (earth) and produce life (seeds, etc.). This balance is called Maa, which is personified as the goddess Maat but illustrated as Hru (Heru, Horus) who wears the double white (crown of Osar) and red (crown of Set) together as the Pschent crown.
Hopefully you get the picture that because there is only Energy. Everything that exist in composed of this Energy or the Rau force with two polar opposites (Shu/Yang and Tefnut/Yin) fluctuating to obtain Maa.
Now, it is important to understand that this One Energy exists in everything and manifests itself in everything in different ways but everything also has these same polar opposites that exist within it. For instance, every species on the planet has a Shu (masculine aspect) and a Tefnut (feminine aspect). Even within the species, everything has a Shu and Tefnut, which are all different manifestations of the same Energy.
When this Energy manifests itself In human beings. If the Energy is too Shu/Yang then human beings are egotistic, selfish, pessimistic, heavy, angry, depressed, fearful, anxious, worrisome, hateful, envious, excessively stressed, etc. However, if the Energy within human beings is too Tefnut/Yin, then human beings are dreamy because are out of touch with physical reality. These individuals are so withdrawn from the physical realm that they live their life believing that all they need to do is mediate and/or do rituals. For instance, these are the people who will recognize that they need money and meditate or do a ritual for a job but will not fill out an application or go and look for a job. A lot of people who claim to be spiritual suffer from being too Tefnut, which is the reason most “spiritual people” are financially broke. If our Kemetic ancestors saw us living this way and claiming to be “spiritual” they would correct us and remind us that Kemet was a prosperous nation and that the people lived a prosperous life.
This is because ideally being spiritual means being in balance or Maa. Although Maa is personified as the goddess Maat (Ma’at), the symbolic representation of Maa is Hru (Heru, Horus) after he has overcome his trial and tribulations and ascended to the throne where he wears the double white and red Pschent crown, which is the symbol for Maa and a unified country/spirit.
Therefore, from a Kemetic perspective unless an individual has chosen to live their life as a renunciate (monk, nun, etc.) whereas their physical needs are provided by others. Being ”spiritual” means living in balance or Maa where you engage in both realities like Hru who stands in the middle of both lands.
From this perspective, raising your vibration/consciousness means to put yourself in a state of alignment, balance or Maa.
How Do You Raise Your Vibration/Energy or Put Yourself in Alignment?
Keeping in mind that everything in our universe is composed of Energy. This means we are all connected to one another and everything by this same Universal Energy. Therefore, everything that exists is composed of energy which vibrates at a specific frequency. By the way, the terms “vibrate” and “vibration” are just a fancy ways of saying your overall being.
Since everything in our universe is composed of energy and therefore vibrates at a particular frequency. When you are being spiritual because you are in a state of alignment or Maa, then you are full of optimism, luck, etc. because everything flows to you because you are vibrating at a frequency that attracts to you whatever you want.
For instance, if you are looking for a mate but you are hanging around family and friends who are constantly bashing the other sex stating that “wo/men ain’t no good!” Then you will have a hard time finding a mate because you are not in alignment with others who want to find a mate, hence you are out of balance. Therefore, you must change your overall being or vibration by changing the way you feel, think and/or act to get a mate.
There are several ways to change your vibration/energy or align your consciousness with what you want and they are:
- Change your thoughts by checking your beliefs and chanting mantras (if possible). Mantras can be a short prayer, sacred words, or a phrase repeated numerous times to generate energy and propel you to a specific goal. If you create your own mantras, be sure they are in the affirmative as if it has already occurred. For instance, I used to be very sarcastic and did not like speaking to people in the morning because I like quietness in the morning. So, when people asked how I was doing. I would quickly respond, “Another Monday” implying that another busy and stressful day like the first day of the week, so my Spirits/Universe made sure that every day was like Monday. To change my thought and how my day would unfold, I started replying “Peaceful and Abundant.” Of course, this generated conversation but it gave me a different vibration and made my day unfold in a very uplifting manner.
- Express Gratitude for Things You Appreciate in Your Life. One of the little rituals I like to do is go to sleep saying what I am grateful for. When I awake I am typically upbeat and ready to take on the day. Another little ritual is that when I repeat a mantra for something I want, I express gratitude rather it manifests or not. Another trick that is good for manifesting more money is to smile every time you spend money. Be grateful that you have money to buy food, pay bills, etc.
- Consume More Alkaline Foods. This means eating more foods such as nuts, seeds, vegetables, herbs, etc. and drink more water. Be mindful of the seasons and the environment you are in. Also, remember too much fruit is just as bad as not enough.
- Do More Cardiovascular Activities. If you are like me and do not care for aerobics exercises like jogging and running. Try other cardiovascular activities like dancing. Whatever you do, it should be fun and enjoyable.
- Practice Maa by Giving to Others who are in need expecting Nothing in Return.
